Think swanky, stylish, spacious, superlative, and exquisite in Singapore —Suntec City comes to mind without a miss! It is a large commercial space – a convention, exhibition, and shopping center all-in-one, spread extensively across a total floor space of 450,000 sq. ft and is located in the Marina Center in Central Singapore. The sprawling structure with its five towers and The Fountain of Wealth is a replica of the four fingers and thumb of the left hand. It flung its doors open to the public for the first time in August of 1995 and underwent a grand remodeling between 2012 and 2013.

The Suntec City is primarily a convention and exhibition center that has hosted over 20,000 events and is hailed as the most preferred destination by individuals, professionals, and businesses alike. It’s the most versatile and massive place to be in. It offers exceptional meeting facilities with up to 36 meeting rooms on level 3; 12,000 meter square of exhibition space on level 4; two auditoriums on level 6 with as many as 6850 seat capacity; direct access to 6 hotels; 1000 retail outlets; 300 restaurants; an art center; and has over 3100 parking spaces.

It remains unrivaled when it comes to creating a sustainable competitive edge and business model. Suntec City is undoubtedly the first choice for hosting events like convocations, concerts, trade shows, fairs, conventions, meetings, sports competitions, and gala dinners. The large convention rooms are customizable to accommodate multiple events.

Despite facing stiff competition from e-commerce giants like Lazada, RedMart, Zalora, etc, shopping arcades like the Suntec City Mall are still holding their own. Air-conditioned and suave interiors with plenty of branded retail outlets to be spoilt for choice, easily make it a popular commercial hub. People prefer going out, meeting their own, socializing, fine dining, and shopping to their heart’s content at the mall. Thankfully, malls are back to brisk business after the great shutdowns during the Pandemic, and Suntec City Mall is looking to reimagine the shopping experience for its patrons with several interactive and immersive experiences.

Know the Highlights

  • Suntec City Mall — It is a paradise for shoppers and one of the biggest in the city-state; Suntec City Mall is located within the Suntec City premises. High-end, lifestyle shopping outlets redefine the shopping experience of visitors here. It’s the perfect haven to let your hair down on a lazy day in Singapore. Post the Pandemic, locals and tourists hit it with a vengeance as there is a certain pleasure and craving with brand shopping, high cuisine, indulging in entertaining and edgy games in gaming zones, and catching big-budget shows on the big, dynamic screens, all under a single roof. The mall culture is quite a thing in Singapore as the air-conditioned interiors provide ready respite from the hot and humid climate of the island-country. There are several flagship stores, plenty of restaurants, cafes, and a cineplex called the Golden Village inside the Suntec City Mall. Most stores are dedicated to products like clothes and fashion wear (both designer and high-street), accessories (jewelry and watches), health and beauty products, electronic items, sports and lifestyle, toys and games, books, homeware, and more. The eateries are mostly located in Fountain Terrace in the basement. There’s a fitness center and a games arcade in the north and east zones.
  • SuperPark — It’s where the young kids would love to have a date with sporty activities and thrilling challenges. It’s meant for all age groups and has something to offer to everybody — The Adventure Area has trampolines, slides, obstacle walls, zip wires, pedal car racing tracks, and more; the tweens and the teens may take more interest in the Game Arena as they try shots at street basketball, the baseball net, and the golf range. The older kids love the Freestyle Hall with attractions like the climbing wall, skate and scoot, soccer, and the trampoline platform to try their skills at. The SuperPark is the perfect indoor gaming area for kids of all age brackets.
  • Office Towers — As pointed out earlier, the five towers of Suntec City resemble the five fingers of the hand with the Fountain of Wealth in their middle. The five buildings are named Towers 1 through 5. 4 of them are 45 stories high (4 fingers), and one is 18 stories tall which represents the thumb. The towers house several diplomatic and non-diplomatic missions like the Embassy of Spain, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, the Embassy of Rwanda, the Embassy of Chile, the Embassy of Qatar, and the Taiwan Trade Center. These are all located across different floors of different towers.
  • Fountain of Wealth — This has been recognized as the world’s largest fountain and is the symbol of wealth, prosperity, and life. The bronze ring of the fountain is designed to resemble the universe and symbolizes ‘oneness in spirit and unity.’ It touches a height of 13.8 meters. The five tower blocks of Suntec City represent the four fingers and thumb of the left hand, and the fountain represents the palm. The fountain looks resplendent at night during the laser show. The Fountain is designed according to Chinese feng shui and is believed to bring good luck and prosperity to the person who walks around the fountain three times, collecting coins and touching the water at all times. It is also everyone’s favorite selfie spot.
  • Click-Happy Space — If you are inseparable from your camera, then check out the Alive Museums with your friends and family and take loads of pictures to your heart’s content. Enjoy the exquisite collection of art, paintings, and optical illusions.
