Dito Telecommunity is a leading telecommunications company that is the third-largest service provider in the Philippines. Recognized for its innovative and robust infrastructure, the company currently uses 3G, 4G/LTE, and 5G standards on its network. Dito is also the fastest-growing 5G network in the country, with coverage that spans 5,000 5G sites (and counting) nationwide.
One of the many advantages of using Dito’s network service is its overall affordability. Its prepaid and postpaid plans generally tend to be more cost-efficient than those of its rivals. And its wide coverage and faster 5G speeds add more value to the overall proposition. However, due to Dito’s different network frequencies, not all smartphone devices are compatible with it. In addition to that, its rural coverage still needs more work since its rivals have been doing a better job at it.
Having said that, if you feel that Dito Telecommunity’s service is not the right fit for your use case, then it makes sense to ditch the service altogether and go ahead with a new operator. And to do that, we have designed a step-by-step guide for you to follow and achieve your goal.
What are Dito’s Cancellation Terms
Dito Telecommunity allows its customers to cancel their service any time they want, simply by contacting the company’s customer care team. However, it should be known that the customer has to provide a 30-day written notice to the company. Additionally, the termination will only be effective upon payment of any outstanding charges, including any pre-termination fee, especially if the contract is cancelled before the expiration of the contract period.
Besides the above-mentioned terms and conditions, Dito also introduced a concept known as “Load,” where your SIM card will only be serviceable if it has a balance above one peso (Php 1.00). If at any moment the balance falls below one peso, your SIM card will be temporarily disabled (unless mentioned otherwise) until you decide to top up your account balance. Keep in mind that if the temporary disconnection lasts more than 90 days, then your Dito SIM card will be permanently disabled.
Lastly, after disconnection, if you have any remaining balance in your Dito account, then the same will be refunded to the user within 60 days of receiving the user’s written request. Any unclaimed deposit or account balance for one year from the termination of service will be forfeited in favour of Dito Telecommunity.
What are the Ways to Cancel Your Dito Number
If you want to cancel your Dito number in the best possible manner, then you can simply follow our recommended steps mentioned below.
Cancelling via Phone
- Begin the cancellation process by first getting in touch with customer care. To do that, dial 185 from your Dito mobile number.
- Choose the suitable IVR (Interactive Voice Response) options and proceed to speak to a customer care executive.
- Once a customer care agent connects to your call, provide your Dito mobile number and account details so that your identity can be verified instantly.
- After completion of the identification process, put forward your cancellation request along with your relevant reasoning. The customer care executive will try to retain you as a customer by offering various solutions to your stated problem(s). However, if you have made up your mind regarding the cancellation, let the same be known.
- The customer support agent will then let you know the cancellation charges that you have to pay (if any) along with your effective date of disconnection. A confirmation message will also be sent to your phone number. Once you clear your dues, your number will be automatically closed.
Cancelling via Email
- First, you need to draft an email to the company’s customer care, preferably from your registered email address (or any other email ID).
- The email should contain your full name, account details, and phone number. Additionally, you also need to state your cancellation request and the reason for it.
- Once you have completed the draft, send the email to customerservice@dito.ph.
- Wait for a follow-up message from customer support. Once you receive a follow-up email asking you to confirm your decision, you will be guided through the subsequent steps for cancellation.
- Additionally, you will be notified regarding the cancellation charges that you have to pay (if any) and your effective date of service discontinuation. Once you clear your dues, your service will be successfully deactivated.
Cancelling at Store
- Start your journey by first locating a nearby Dito Experience Store. To do that, you can use the official store locator here.
- On the landing page, you will notice the stores segregated based on their location, such as Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
- Once you have selected your preferred store, visit it with your mobile phone containing your Dito SIM card and sufficient ID proof.
- At the store, your customer’s identity will first be verified. Once the identification process is complete, ask the store representative to cancel your number. The store agent will guide you through the process and let you know any cancellation charges that you need to pay.
- Proceed to clear your dues on the spot and obtain a receipt as proof of payment. After that, you will be notified regarding your effective date of disconnection.
