MobileOne, commonly known as M1 Limited, is a Singapore-based telecommunications company. Founded in 1994, the company was the first telecom company in Singapore to launch its GPRS service in 2000. In the following year, M1 partnered with Nokia to expand its GSM network while also offering its users nationwide MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service). Soon it also expanded its 3G capabilities with assistance from Nokia.
M1 was listed on the Singapore Exchange from 2002 to 2019 as a listed public limited enterprise. However, it was delisted from the stock exchange after all its shares were bought out by a third-party organisation known as Konnectivity. But, even after delisting, M1 remains one of the four major telecom service providers in Singapore, providing mobile communication services over 3G, 3.5G, 4G/LTE, and 5G.
As of the current day, M1 offers three primary types of customizable mobile plans in Singapore – Bespoke Contract, Bespoke Flexi and Bespoke SIM. With Bespoke Contract, customers can enter into a two-year contract with a company for a fixed monthly price. On the other hand, Bespoke SIM and Bespoke Flexi provide non-contract plans that can be adjusted once per month at no additional charge. Not to mention, with Bespoke Flexi, you get access to both a SIM card and a mobile handset.
How is the Network Experience With M1
When it comes to the network experience, M1 offers some of the best network availability in Singapore, with a coverage rating of 99.4 per cent. Even the 4G coverage experience is on par with rivals such as Singtel and StarHub. Additionally, when it comes to network consistency, M1 is ranked third, as per Open Signal, after companies such as StarHub and Singtel.
The gaming, voice, and video streaming experience on M1’s network is also on-par with the rest of its competitors. However, what requires drastic improvement is its download speed experience, which is ranked the second-lowest in Open Signal’s tests, and far off from the industry average. However, the company makes up for it in upload speed experience.
