Timings & Ticket Information

The Napali Coast State Wilderness Park is open daily for visitors, including holidays, from 7:00 AM to 6:45 PM. The parking lot opens at 6:30 AM for the visitors taking their private cars. The best time to visit Napali Coast is the summer. You can reserve a kayaking adventure when the seas are calm in the summer months. You can also go on the famous hiking trails from May to October.

You can experience the breathtaking view of the Napali coastline free of cost. You can also hike for free to Kalalau Valley and see the Hanakapiai Falls. However, you will need a camping permit to walk beyond this point. Tour packages are available for visitors who want to explore other adventures in Napali Coast State Wilderness Park. The packages come cheap and offer exciting activities in and around the national park.

How to Reach

The nearest airport to the Napali Coast is Lihue Airport. From here, it is a 41 miles or roughly 2 hours drive to reach the national park. Take the Kuhio Highway from the airport to Haena State Park. Public transportation is also available to reach the park. You can take a public bus to Hanalei and switch to a cab till Kalalau. But if you have hiking gear with you, taking a public bus is not a good idea.

If you are taking your private car, the parking is free but based on first-come-first-serve. Hence, reach early to get a spot in the parking area. However, visitors without Hawaii Driving License or state ID need to reserve a parking spot beforehand. They have to visit the official site online and book a parking permit to secure their parking spot.

Things to Do in and Around

Napali is famous for its stunning coastline views. Drive to the nearby beaches such as Kee Beach and Polihale Beach to catch the scenic views of the coastline. You can also grab a view of the largest canyon in the Pacific, Waimea Canyon, while driving to the Kalalau Lookout.

However, the Napali Coast State Wilderness Park has more to offer visitors. The first adventure to undertake when you are at the park is to go for the famous Napali hike. You can see the Hanakapiโ€™ai Falls on this trail after a short 2 miles hike. You can end your hike after reaching the Kalalau Valley, but you will need camping permits if you want to hike beyond that. Camping in Napali Coastline is a must if you want to soak in the entire experience of this natural wonder.
