EasyJet started its operations in March of 1995 from London Luton Airport. Its flying base remains the same. It is a budget carrier, like Ryanair and Wizz Air, that offers flexible fares and exciting deals to its customers on ticket purchases around the year.

In many ways, EasyJet scores brownie points over its competitors in terms of flight comfort, in-flight seats with sufficient legroom, overhead cabin size, cleanliness, and staff behavior. Unlike most European airlines that burn a hole in your pocket, EasyJet prices suit all budgets and offer a high-end flying experience with no hidden costs. It is also one of the safest to travel.

EasyJet flies to 150 destinations that are spread across the UK and countries in Europe like Germany, Italy, Switzerland, France, Spain, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Greece, and many others. It also flies long-haul flights to the US, Egypt in North Africa, Singapore, and Hongkong.

If you are having a rough day with delayed or missing luggage, please keep your calm and do the following to get your problem resolved.

Approach the Lost Property Office

On landing, head first to their Baggage Services Desk at the arrival airport. File a report as the case may be — damaged or delayed/missing luggage. If you would rather have the Ground staff assist you with the entire process, you may take the crew’s help in completing the form with all relevant details. However, most passengers these days prefer the online mode and would rather not wait in long queues to lodge missing reports. In such a scenario that you prefer going online, you may use their self-service machine.

If you have left behind your things onboard, the cabin crew will hand it over to the ground staff at the Lost Property section, but it may take a while before it reaches you safely. Likewise for all things lost at the airport or waiting lounges.

Note here that EasyJet Airways does not have the policy of considering baggage damage or missing items if they are not reported at the airport. They also do not take responsibility for superficial/external damage, damage due to over-packing, damage due to rain or snow, or damage to perishable/fragile items and valuables. The airline promises to make compensation for the damage that has occurred in their care and which meets their terms of carriage.

Follow the same steps to reclaim delayed/missing baggage. Get in touch with the staff at their Baggage Services desk before you leave the airport. If they cannot retrieve your belongings and/or you are in a hurry to leave for your destination, leave a correct postal and email address and contact number with them to help them reach you. Alternatively, you may use their Dedicated Baggage Portal and lodge the report asap.

Most bags are returned to the owner within the first 5 days of the report. If not, the authorities will contact you for further details to launch a more intensive search.

Fill the Lost Baggage Report

Their Baggage Tracing Team will be on their job from the time you report the missing bag. You can also follow the status yourself on the Manage An Existing Report section on their portal. The authorities will also stay in touch with you through their direct messaging system till they locate and deliver your belongings to you.

If you have been missing your bag for more than 24 hours and find yourself stranded in a foreign land, rest assured that the airline will compensate you for the essentials you need like basic clothing, toiletries, medicines, etc. The amount is 25 pounds per person for up to three days. For any online claim, fill in their form with important details. Additionally, please remember to retain all receipts and supporting documents, flight details, bag tags, etc.

Get Support via Phone or Social Media

The website and social media come in handy and work better than a phone call these days. High-volume customer calls can keep their helplines busy perpetually, or put you on IVR. You may try their Chatbot option which is available 24×7. But if it’s an emergency and you would rather talk to a human on the other side, you may call these numbers – +44 (0) 330 5515151 (UK), +43 (0) 1 2533025 (Austria), +33 (0) 9 77407770 (France), +49 (0) 30 726297510 (Germany), +34 93 6410000 (Spain) and +31 (0) 20 7946405 (Netherlands).

To give a shoutout on their social media pages for someone to attend to your grievance, you may click on the following links — Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Conclusion

With modern luggage tracing technology in use at airports these days, it is not too hard for airlines to locate and return lost luggage to their rightful owners. Nonetheless, it pays to take travel precautions and prevent such nightmares. Travel light, travel easy, and label your bags with proper contact details to have a stress-free vacay.
