Orlando International Airport is the seventh busiest airport in the United States, handling more than 40 million passengers through its terminals every year. Spread across an extensively large 12,600 acres of space, it is also one of the largest airports in the US.

When it was established, the airport was named the McCoy Air Force Base, in honor of the US Air Force Colonel, Michael Norman Wright McCoy. However, during the 1960s, commercial jet airline service was introduced in the Orlando area, after which the airport was converted into a civil-military facility. Following the end of the Vietnam War, the McCoy Air Force Base was shut down and was thereby renamed Orlando International Airport. The airport is also known by the name of Orlando-McCoy Jetport.

The Orlando International Airport consists of two terminals along with four concourses and 129 gates. Terminal A can be found on the north side, while Terminal B is situated on the southern end. Terminal B is also responsible for offering passengers baggage claim and check-in facilities. A shared security checkpoint can be found between the two terminals.

Terminal A offers tramway systems that connect Airside 1 and Airside 2. Airside 1 features gates from 1 to 29, while Airside 2 features gates from 100-129. On the other hand, Terminal B connects Airside 3 and Airside 4. Usually, baggage and check-in facilities are carried out within Airside 3 and 4. Airside 3 features gates from 30 to 59, while Airside 4 features gates from 70 to 99.

There is also a third terminal, known as Terminal C, which is located to the south of both Terminals A and B. This terminal houses the South Terminal Complex with gates between C230 and C245 along with the tramway system that leads to the other two main terminals (Terminals A and B).

Parking Options Available at Airport

The Orlando International Airport offers provisions for both short-term and long-term parking options. Passengers can choose to park at Parking Garage A, Terminal Top Parking Area, Parking Garage B, Parking Garage C, Valet Parking, North Park Place Economy Lot and South Park Place Economy Lot. All of the aforementioned areas offer both short and long-term parking options.

Additionally, if you want a temporary waiting area to pick up your loved ones from the airport, then you can use the free cell phone parking lots. Both North Cell Phone Lot and the South Cell Phone Lot are free to use and can be used for temporary parking. However, it should be known that no unattended or commercial vehicles will be allowed within the cell phone lots and vehicles cannot stay overnight as well.

When it comes to oversized vehicles that are longer than 20 feet and/on higher than 7 inches, they should be parked inside the South Park Place Parking Lot. Not to mention, no commercial vehicles will be allowed here. Also, accessible parking options are available at the Terminal Top Parking Area, Terminal Garage Parking A, B and C as well as Economy Parking Lots. Electric vehicle charging stations can also be found on the Level 2 of Parking Garages A and B.

Lastly, if you are staying at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport, then you will be provided with both long-term and short-term parking options. Valet service can also be obtained and the parking cost will be directly charged to your room bill amount.

How to Book Parking

As of the current day, Orlando International Airport does not support online booking or reservations for vehicle parking. Even though the airport is open 24 hours, passengers are requested to arrive at the airport at least three before the scheduled departure time. And in doing so, they can thereby proceed to park their vehicles at the available parking garages.

However, since each airline has its own set of operation hours, it is always recommended to contact your airline company to know how early you should check in. Payment options for vehicle parking include cash, E-PASS, and SunPass Plus along with debit/credit cards from major vendors such as American Express, Visa and MasterCard.

Since the Orlando International Airport does not support online booking for parking, there are no provisions for cancellations or refunds. However, if you want to get in touch with the airport authorities regarding any parking needs, then you can do so by contacting them via email at MCOServiceCloud@goaa.org. Emails will be responded to within 24-48 hours.

Third-Party Parking Options

Apart from parking within the premises of the Orlando International Airport, you can also book in the vicinity of the airport with the help of multiple third-party parking service providers such as Way and Parkon. Some parking areas around the airport include Orlando Airport Marriott, Park N’Go, WallyPark Premier Airport Parking and Renaissance Orlando Airport.
