About Yellowstone National Park
Yellowstone National Park is a UNESCO designated World Heritage Site located in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, US. Opened in the year 1872, the national park is governed by the US National Park Service. Annually the park welcomes more than 4.2 million visitors. The park is spread across 2.2 million acres. For some facts, Yellowstone is said to be the world’s first national park. It is located 96% in Wyoming, 3% in Montana, and 1% in Idaho. There are anywhere between 1000 to 3000 earthquakes that take place each year. Yellowstone is home to more than 67 species of mammals and 285 species of birds. It also boasts of more than 290 waterfalls. For history lovers, the park has more than 1800 archaeological sites.

One of the largest national parks in the US, Yellowstone is home to largest concentration of geysers and hot springs. The Old Faithful is among the most popular geysers. More than half of the world’s hydrothermal features are found at Yellowstone National Park. Visitors also will be enthralled by the wildlife that includes wolves, elk and bears. Popular activities include camping, hiking, boating, wildlife viewing, bicycling, fishing, skiing, and guided tours. Campgrounds you will find include Bridge Bay Campground, Canyon Campground, Fishing Bridge RV Park, Grant Village, Campground, Indian Creek Campground, Lewis Lake Campground, Madison Campground, Mammoth Hot Springs Campground, Norris Campground, Pebble Creek Camground and Slough Creek Campground.

Visit the Yellowstone National Park website to see operating hours and seasons you need to visit. The recommended months to visit is June, July, and August. There is an entrance fee for visiting the park. Vehicles will also need to take a pass that is valid for seven days. There is the Annual Pass for those who would like to enter the national park anytime throughout the year. All passes are non-transferable.
