About Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park
Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park is a coral reef with several lagoons and two coral islands in the middle of Sulu Sea, Philippines. Covering 130,028 ha, the Tubbataha Reefs is home to whales, dolphins, tiger sharks, cetaceans, sharks, turtles and Napoleon wrasse. It supports over 350 species of coral and 500 species of fish. The national marine park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Tubbataha Reefs consists of about 10,000 hectares of coral reef. There are also 12 species of sharks, 13 species of dolphins/whales and over 100 species of birds. There are dive operators available at the park all year round. The best time for diving however is from March to June. The park is only accessible by sea transport. It takes 10 hours to get to the park from Puerto Princesa. Visitors to the park must have an Entry Permit before the journey. Most dive operators here have permits to conduct tourist operations.
