About The Block Arcade
The Block Arcade is a popular shopping arcade in Melbourne, Australia. The tourist destination is a heritage site and is featured on TripAdvisor’s top ten landmarks in the country. Opened in the year 1892, the Block was formerly known as Carpenter’s Lane. The Victorian era arcade is open from 8am to 6pm on most days. On Thursday and Friday, it is even open up to 9pm. The Block Arcade’s design draws inspiration from Milan’s grand Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. The architect was David C Askew.

You will be spellbound by the incredible interior decoration, the glass shop windows, mosaic tiled floors, glass roof and elegant openwork spandrels. Some of the retail outlets at the Block include Adriana Carbone, Alpaca Collection, Australian By Design, Basement Discs, Bell & Ross, Bendigo Bank, Caffe Du’Omo, Camper Shoes, Crabtree & Evelyn, Dafel Dolls & Bears, French Jewelbox, Georg Jensen Living, MCM Studio, Mr Wales, Rutherford, Very Very and Wittners Shoes. One of the iconic brands that has been present since the beginning is the Hopetoun Tea Rooms. At the ground level of the arcade, you can find boutiques that sell jewelry, watches, apparel, fashion accessories and chocolates. For more information or queries on tours, tickets, timings, parking, or others reach the Block Arcade customer service.
