About Table Mountain National Park
Table Mountain National Park is a popular tourist attraction in Cape Town, South Africa, established in the year 1998. It is a wild reserve national park, part of the UNESCO Cape Floral Region World Heritage Site. Just as the name suggests, the popular highlight in the national park is the Table Mountain which appears to be flat on top and offers incredible views of Cape Town. The other significant landmark is the iconic Cape of Good Hope that is rich in cultural and natural heritage. Other landmarks include the Boulders Penguin Colony, Silverline and Signal Hill and Lions Head. The Table Mountain is over 260 million years old and in 2012 it was named as one of the world’s ‘New 7 Wonders of Nature’.

Accommodation options at the Table Mountain park include Hoerikwaggo Tented Camps, Olifantsbos Guest House, Eland Family Cottage, Duiker Family Cottage, Platteklip Wash House and the Overseers Cottage. You can call the reservation desk for rates and features. Booking can also be done online. Besides lodging, there are also a number of tour packages, shops and restaurants. Formerly known as the Cape Peninsula National Park, the place welcomes more than 2.6 million visitors each year. There are also a number of activities that visitors can undertake. They include hiking, overnight trail, fishing, scuba diving, mountain biking, surfing, kite boarding, sport climbing, paragliding, forest walks and horse riding.

For those who cannot climb the mountain top, there is the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway. The cable cars, which has transported over 25 million people to the summit, just takes 5 minutes to reach the top and provides visitors 360° views. Each of the two cable cars can supposedly carry 65 people. At the Lower Cable Station, visitors can purchase tickets, explore cafes and shops. On most days, the cable cars operate from 8am to 7pm. An adult ticket costs R255. The rates vary for children and senior citizens. Tickets can also be purchased on the website. For more information or queries on timings, tickets, tour packages, refund, cancellation, parking, transportation, or others, reach the Table Mountain National Park support.
