Went to the Supercuts in Walmart Plaza Olean, NY for a trim. One stylist there, Kelsi was was talking loudly about trans-genders and about how being a trans-gender is a mental illness and cussing just as loud in front of two small children. The manager didn’t seem to be bothered by any of it.
Today, August 15, 2022, I was taking my two male grandchildren for a much needed haircut to your Lewisburg, West Virginia location. It was well past lunch time, but there was a hand written note on the locked door, that they were on their LUNCH BREAK. A bit ODD, but after pounding on the door, a blond female came to the door, unlocked it, and said it would be about an hour before they would be back to work. Coming back later the locked door and out to lunch sign were still present.
Damn folks, I was born in 1946 and since that time I have NEVER seen or heard of a barber shop being CLOSED FOR LUNCH. Shops were ALWAYS OPEN from the open to closed times on the door. The OPEN sign in the window says OPEN 10:00 AM to CLOSE 7:00 PM.
NOT A VERY GOOD WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS.
Haircut took place 30 Jan 2022 at Palm Harbor, FL location. I showed Rosie (stylist/manager) a few pictures of the type of bangs I wanted and let her choose which one fit my bone structure. At first inspection, the bangs looked fine. When I returned home and the bangs were dry, I noticed they were uneven and one side was thicker than the other. I took multiple pictures and the mistakes were even more glaringly apparent.
I returned to the salon to ask for a refund ($7 + $3 tip). Rosie and Mona (stylist) told me it was not possible, so Rosie offered to fix my bangs; I conceded. However, when I showed her the mistakes, she did not understand the issues. She started cutting the bangs and the experience worsened due to her ineptitude. I commented that she still did not understand the problems with her cut. She threw the $3 tip in my purse and pulled my hair when she removed the smock, which she denied.
The whole experience was catastrophe. I usually go to higher-end salons, but decided to give Supercuts a try. I can now see why people I know refuse.
I have been using Supercuts now for about 15 years and almost every time I feel like I’ve had a good experience and that is still true today.
The thing I cannot understand is why they have started charging senior’s more money than their younger patrons. Obviously, it takes a lot longer to cut a younger persons hair than it does a senior.
I’m not complaining about the service, and I understand inflationary pressures. I’m just wondering if the company is trying to discourage seniors for some reason?
What is happening in my case, because it leaves such a nasty taste in my mouth to be discriminated against because of my age, I find myself leaving a smaller gratuity for the stylist which is not their fault because they are following company policy. Maybe this is a question that is better answered by AARP or the BBB.
Lastly, please don’t insult me with some free coupon or other free offer. I’m fine paying for the good service I usually find at these shops. What I’m not fine with is being discriminated against because of my age and if I’ve figured this out you can bet there are a lot of others that have also.
Thank You
Late yesterday morning (8/25/21) I popped into the Supercuts next to CVS in Manhattan Village in Manhattan Beach, CA…not my normal place but needed a trim. There were two young female stylists, the blond called up a young black man…he was very clean cut and super polite. The other stylist, a young Hispanic women said she would be right with me so I asked if I could use the restroom, she punched in the code and held the door open for me. While she was cutting my hair, the young man was finished up and he asked his stylist if he could use the restroom…she asked my stylist if it was OK. My stylist said no because of Covid regulations and told him to go next door to CVS, he politely thanked her and said he would co to CVS. I commented that she had allowed me to use the same restroom and she said it was because guys aren’t clean. Whether it was because of his color or because of his gender, I think that is incredibly discriminatory…they sure has no problem taking his money. You can bet I will never go there again.
Me and my family went to supercuts in Jacksonville Tx and we got butchered. WORST HAIRCUT. Had to go the next day and pay another $50 to get it fixed
I went to the Nanuet, NY store at 9:25 this AM (7/27/21) after checking store hours online, which said 9 AM opening
(also on the door). I waited until 10 AM when 2 girls arrived. It was a hot, humid day, and by this time I was baked. They told me I had to wait 10 to 15 minutes while they opened up. I’m an 80-year-old woman with a heart problem. I told them due to my health I needed to get out of the heat and into the air conditioning. I even said I’d stand at the door, They told me no, you have to wait outside, then closed and locked the door in my face. One girl (dark hair) gave me a nasty look as she was locking the door. I have been going to this store for 15 years, never have I been treated this way before. An hour late to work and rude to a customer? They are not good for business. My regular hairdresser was on vacation, and she is a sweetheart!
I made an appointment at the Supercuts at Grant and Swan in Tucson Az. I said I could come at my stylist convenience. I showed up a few minutes early and there were four people waiting. My stylist was not there and I was told she was at the bank and she would have a haircut before mine. One of the people waiting said she had made her appointment for 45 minutes before we chatted. It looked like it would be at least an hour and I left. The only thing one salon can offer is service. There are lots of choices and I will look elsewhere. Very sad when you can’t honor an appointment when you picked the time.
I have been turned away 4 times at your location on Biscayne Blvd and 125th street in Miami Fl. I had been a client of Supercuts at this location since it opened more than 20 years ago. Even with an appointment I was turned away! On top of that I am told how tired the stylist is and how she had not had lunch. I work and I am 75 years old. I would never subject a customer to my issues! I tried calling ahead to be sure they could take me. Was told yes to come in. Got there 15 minutes later which was 1hour and 15 minutes before closing. Only 2 customers were in the chairs and no one waiting. The customers were nearly finished. I questioned why I was told to come in. The 2 stylist denied either one told me to come in and asked if I got a name. I waited out side in my car as the 2 customers left . There was 1 hour left before closing and my hair ,which is very short, takes about 15 to 20 minutes to cut. I walked to the door and it was locked. I knocked for several minutes before the stylist came to the door and refused to open the door or cut my hair. I’m not sure if they just don’t like me or if it is just bad business practices. I always tip well. $10 TO $20 for each hair cut and I buy my products from the shop. I left and called a Supercuts in Aventura, Fl about 5 miles away. They took me in did a good job and even apologized for the treatment I had received at the other shop.
My son and I walked into Supercuts #448 at 2317 N. Tarrant Parkway in Fort Worth, TX at 5:31PM to an empty lobby. There were 2 employees that looked about half way through cutting the hair of 2 gentlemen. I say about half way through because I could see that the sides of both men’s hair were already shaved and the top was still long. One of the women asked if we made an appointment online. I said no we did not and my son and I sat down while the 2 employees spoke amongst themselves for a moment before one of them said they wouldn’t be able to cut my sons hair today because it was going to take them 30 minutes to finish the haircuts they were doing and they close at 6pm. I asked if we could stay and wait to see if they had time and the woman stated again she would not have time. So we left to go to one of your competitors. I find it very unprofessional to turn away a customer under these circumstances!
Interesting how all these appointments are told to wait because there are walk ins. I have the opposite problem my son and I have went to get him a haircut three times on the N Circle location in Colorado Springs and told they can never take him. Each time there are employees with no clients. I understand they might have appointments coming in but then they need to be a place that requires an appointment and does not take walk ins. The sign outside states they take walk ins that should be taken down because it’s not true. I found a local barber shop that did a better job and took us walking in. I won’t be going to Supercuts.
Have had my hair cut at the store in raleigh nc on capital blvd since it opened. Had a horrible experience this week and i will never go there again. I booked online and when i arrived there were 2 stylists each with someone in tbeir chair and one woman waiting. Mobody greeted me as i came in. Several minutes later a couple came in..one stylist came over to them..obviously the woman of the pair was het client. Whole she was standing there..i told her i had booked online for 430..this stylist just went off..started yelling at me that the days of online booking were over and that it would be a first come..first serve basis..actually screaming at me.. I was shocked and embarrassed. She then took the lady who actually came in after me
.leaving me sitting there..so much for first come. She then started to say mean things about me to the woman in her chair which of course i could hear. The other stylist said mothong but looked embarrassed. I left and will never get my hair cut there again. A young man came in during this and she was also mean to him. Told him he could stay if he wanted but she had no idea if and when he would be seen. She wanted to cut her people and get anyone else to leave. While she was cutting a lady’s hair she complained continually how tired she was..on and on.
I actually question her mental health. Older lady with fried looking pale pink hair. I would suggest folks stay away from that salon. I will never go there again.
I had an appointment at the Loveland Colorado location and I checked in and the stylist said it would be about 5 minutes and that I needed to sit on the bench outside. So I sat out there in heat for 15 minutes and another guy came up walked in and didn’t come back outside to wait. They took this guy right in after making me sit in the 82 degrees outside with the sun beating down on me. My appointment was for 4:00 o’clock and finally at 4:15 I said screw it and left. I’ll never go to one of your places again
I made an appointment at Supercuts, Colorado Springs, CO, Briargate Blvd, and Union Blvd. The appointment was made on 5/12/20 for 5/13/20 @ 11:30 AM. I arrived at Supercuts right at 11:30 and made myself know to the barbers. Two barbers were present and one said are you, Mr. Roark, for 11:30? I said I was and she asked me to fill out waiver paperwork and sign it and asked for me to wait outside and when she called on me to please wear a mask before entering. I said okay. I sat in my car directly in front of the front door. At 11:45 a woman entered Supercuts. I assumed she was going to be told the same requests made of me. At 12:00 Pm I was a little curious as to why they hadn’t called me. I opened the front door and saw the lady who entered at 11:45 was getting her hair cut. I asked the barbers If it was going to be much longer as I had an appointment at 11:30; she said please wait outside and we will call you. Well, I then asked why the lady that walked in @11:45 was getting her hair cut while I had waited for a half-hour and wasn’t called as she had said. They both got temperamental at that point and one woman (the tall one) said rather nastily, “please wait outside. She got nasty..
Happened to me as well last Friday. Makes you feel like a second class customer. I can understand if there’s 2 people that walk in the same time…the online appt. makes sense BUT when you have a customer sitting there waiting for 10 minutes and they are neglected for someone that “booked” online, there’s something wrong. Besides when you enter the salon and give your name….aren’t you booking the next available spot?
Bad customer service practise.
I have a scenerio that happened recently at one of your salons; There was one stylist working on a young boy when I walked in. No one else in the place. She took my number and said she would not be long. I sat for 10 minutes, and thought I was next. She said she neglected to check the online appts, and apologized again as a man walked in, and proceeded to her chair ahead of me. I was stunned. Is this your policy? If so, I will not be returning.
