I would like to recognize Letta from Ebony Park SuperSpar, who gave excellent customer service. I just came back from doing my shopping around 18h06 today(31/07/23).She delivered EXCELLENT customer service, though it was late she was so friendly and kind not just to me but other customers as well, and she was so active and it was so busy.
Good day, all I can say is that every time I leave
Monument Park Spar, Pretoria, I feel happy and satisfied with my shopping. What an amazing store! Thanks to the staff, packers, bakers, cleaners, managers, cashiers and every one involved with Spar, for the amazing, excellent and friendly service rendered every day at this store. The packed shelves, the choice of items, the quality of products, etc. I drive past two Spar stores to support Monument Park Spar!!!
Please keep this up. A real pleasure to support you.
SPAR Nottingham Road, KZN Midlands, could teach the rest of the SPAR chain on friendly caring customer service.
This may not be the biggest SPAR in the area, but they certainly are the best. Shelves are always nicely presented and front line service on the tills is just amazing.
Special recognition to Cindy, whom I get excited at the thought of being served by, as she always lifts my spirits, and today, Eunice, who made me feel so much better as I was walking around the store in crutches in a very clumsy manner :-)
Thank you SPAR Notties. You guys are amazing.
Can Spar as business please train their employees better. I read other people’s complaints and we all are identifying the same thing – customer service. For instance the staff at Spar, Stretford Orange Farm has bad attitude and are disrespectful. The service is extremely bad. Even to elderly people.
The service and friendliness of our Spar in St Francis Bay is excellent — except- many times some products are past its expiry date! Unfortunately my husband does not check the dates which means — extra petrol, time, frustration and a non so happy wife!
Other people in our area is also complaining about this!

The cashier does not respect the customer. I went there to buy and do the cash back withdrawal. I knew that you can only request R500 per transaction. However the Cashier told me that I am only allowed to withdraw R500 per day and I try to explain to her that the notice on the wall is not saying what she is telling me. I tell her that I can do the 1st transaction of buying and withdraw from 1 till and still go to another till to buy and withdraw another R500 then she start telling me that it does not work my way. I try to explain to her properly but she starts disrespecting me. Therefore I request to see the manager and only the supervisor was available. When the supervisor arrived they still continue insulting me in front of their supervisor to show that they don’t respect her too. The supervisor agrees with me that you can still do more transactions and withdraw from other tills for as long as you buy and make transactions. The cashier didn’t even apologize and kept telling me that I think I have fat pockets and kept insulting me in front of their supervisor and the supervisor also kept laughing with them. Instead of asking them to treat customer with respect. I was so disappointed with the lack of knowledge of their staff and the way they disrespect customers in from of their supervisor.
I am still in shock. I just experienced the worst “don’t care” attitude from Sergio at Spar, Leondale. The reception from him was extreme. His staff members were even scared to call him for me when I asked for the manager. They were scared…
Spar in Krugersdorp West is absolutely disgusting. Not all staff wearing masks and allowing shoppers in store without sanitizing hands and not wearing masks. I have complained to manager previously but obviously its not a concern therefore i will be taking this further and will definitely not shop there in the future.
To whom it may concern
I wish to voice my utter dissatisfaction and frustration at the KwikSpar Ridgeway Gardens store based in Johannesburg South.
There seems to be an ongoing issue with false advertising pertaining to this particular store.
On two recent, but seperate, occasions this store advertised weekly special items that were never available to begin with. They advised products that were not available for the entire duration of the advertised special period. On both occasions they kept promising that stock would arrive the next day. The next day never arrived, I know this because I kept going back the next day, and the next, and the next…
This not only wasted my time, but also cost me petrol money driving up and down to the store for a few days in a row intending to purchase the items advertised as “specials”.
This store even went as far as lying on social media for God alone knows what reason. They claimed that a particular advertised product was available in store, when in fact it was not, resulting in me driving to the store on more than one occasion only to be told that there was never stock to begin with. What sort of unscrupulous business practice is this?. This not only wasted my time and petrol, but also potentially posed a health risk during the lockdown period by making false claims thus causing me to drive up and down to this store for no reason at all!. This behaviour and lack of consideration angers me completely.
I am a regular shopper at this store and feel utterly disgusted at the way this store blatantly disregards it’s customers, as well as the health and safety of its customers.
Something should be done to curb this immoral and unscrupulous behaviour, or is it totally acceptable to make fools out of customers during this already difficult time in our country?
I let it slide once, thinking it was an error and we’re human and make mistakes. I am however inclined to believe that because they are getting away with it, it’s becoming a habit.
You are welcome to contact me for screenshots as proof of the above claims.
I’d love to see whether our comments and frustrations even get taken seriously by Spar on these platforms.

I was at spar willow way in Pretoria earlier yesterday day and a staff by the name Thuli was very rude and disrespectful simply because i requested to pay using a Nedbank speed point since i was paying with Nedbank card. I wonder if she knows customer service
Having read all of the comments from dissatisfied Spar customers above I have had enough of the bad service and attitude that you get from these people ( not all but a lot). My worst Spar Robinhills. The manager is arrogant, the staff who don’t listen are incompetent and the owner worst of the lot is also arrogant rude and incompetent. Fortunately in our area we are spoilt for choice so I don’t need this mickey mouse cafe. But it wasn’t my first run in with this shop so I suppose I must take some blame for going back. But I won’t ever make that mistake again. And when you report your bad experience to their Head Office guess what they do nothing because they also don’t care. If the stupid owner of this shop had any idea how much we used to spend at this store before he took it over and wrecked it he would be begging me to carry on shopping there. Bottom line their prices are out their service is shocking and their attitude even worse. I will never go back to this rubbish place.
The Manager at Spar Caldswald, Midrand is very poor in customer relations. His name is Pete.
He was prepared to lose me as a customer just because of a plastic bag. I walked in with a plastic bag containing an item purchased from another store. The security wanted to seal the bag as a security measure. I refused, so he referred me to Pete. I explained to Pete that I understood about the security issue BUT I wanted to use the bag to buy a few items from his store. He refused. I suggested that because his policy was to seal bags, was he prepared to give me a plastic bag for free. He again refused.
I walked out of your store.
He is certainly not management material as far as I am concerned. He was prepared to lose a customer over a simple plastic bag that costs 50 cents. I was going to spend a great deal more than that.
If this is the type of managers you employ in your store, then please don’t say that Spar was built on its Community.
If you contact me I will gladly supply my phone number.
Very bad customer service from Spar at Kibler Park. The white people that are working there they treat blacks as if they are nothing with the utmost disrespect. On Tuesday late on the 22nd Jan 2019. The white security guy banged a door on a persons face it was black guys walking with crutches trying to explain to the security. The very same security I have witnessed him in several times disrespecting
customers and some of the workers there.
I am a regular customer there, it is really disappointing when you go to other spar shops to get the service that you will never get to the one you buy at almost everyday as it is close by.
Another issue, the items on special are seldom available at Spar in Kibler park. It can be the first day of a special or promotion but the shelves will be empty.
SuperSpar Highflats needs to be closed down and the
Health Inspectors needs to come and see for themselves the state of filth in that store especially the vegetable area. The green peppers were rotten even yesterday and the shelves havent been cleaned. Why is the store still open. You are going to make us sick!!!!
Dear Mr. Zapke and Mr. Griebel
Please allow me the opportunity to bring the following to your attention:
Since moving to Omaruru in April 2016 I have been shopping at Spar, Omaruru. Spending between N$ 6000 – 8000 and more per month at your business.
Since my first visit to Spar Omaruru, the lady behind the kiosk counter has been unbelievably rude to me, including the floor manager lady.
But after today’s encounter I have had enough of this humiliation and poor service. Am I not the customer? What does it mean to be the customer? Besides buying goods am I not supposed to be treated with respect?
Am I not spending my hard earned money at your franchise? If it wasn’t for the friendly cashiers I would have quit shopping at Spar Omaruru a along time ago.
Today, While I was paying for my goods purchased at the till, a client phoned me and since being on the phone and unable to ask the cashier while on the phone I went and collected cigarettes. While still on the phone the kiosk lady yelled at me that I am not allowed to collect the cigarettes. The second lady came to the till and told me to ask the cashier for cigarettes – I was still busy on the phone and she rudely interrupted me. I was so upset and yelled at her ‘Can’t you see I am busy on the phone?’. I ended the call and then a customer standing at the kiosk counter started shouting at me and threatening me.
And then the floor manager lady went to Ms. Griebel and pointed a finger at me explaining what ? After the humiliation I went through with staff interrupting me and a fellow customer threatening me… Am I at fault? It this normal? Did I deserve this kind of treatment? What is this behaviour based on?
I usually ask the cashier for cigarettes, but whenever I ask for something from the kiosk counter, the kiosk lady always helps everyone else and seems reluctant to assist me. She is always unfriendly and usually first finishes her conversations with fellow staff before assisting me. For two years I have been calm and showed patience – long enough.
I understand that you have a system in place and that your staff is doing what is requested from them but SURELY treating regular and local customers so RUDE could not be your vision?
I have had enough of this kind of service and ill treatment. Unless necessary, I would rather spend my money on Monday mornings in Otjiwarongo Spar where customer service seems to be the first priority and friendliness is overflowing.
If we treat our customers so poorly in a time of an economical crisis what impact would this have on a business?
Regards,
Very bad customer service from Kwikspar, I purchased an item, an hour later I discovered a problem.
Went to Kwikspar and spoke to manager who said he’d let the reps know when they came again.
A week later he returned to me and said the reps would not deal with customer complaints and I should phone the number printed on the box. (A Stop smoking info number.) I am disgusted at the complete lack of customer care in this issue. My husband and I are regular customers.Could you please advise me as to what I should do. I want the item replaced.
To whom it may concern
I have never been so angry in my life before. Who do the staff at Umdloti Spar think they are? No respect for people at all!
I own the shop next door and Spar has the whole left hand side of the parking bay and every week they put their Tuk Tuk in front of my office when they could just put it to the left of the Spar where it normally parks.
When I drove up the hill this morning, I saw the Tuk Tuk again in front of my shop and went to the management and nicely asked them to please move their Tuk Tuk away from my shop only to have Richard Gunning walk into my office and ask me what my problem was and is the Tuk Tuk keeping all the cars away from my shop and said it was “f.ucking ridiculous” as he had never seen the Tuk Tuk there before and it had never parked there before. I said, yes it has every week and he said more profanities and stormed out.
Now this I will not tolerate at all. Where is his respect? I will never ever put my foot into that place again. Ever! The staff think they own Umdloti with their horrible attitudes and I personally have had enough of them.
Just who does Mr. Gunning think he is to come and talk to me like that. Ask me if I woke up in a bad mood? Really? Then swear at me. You may look at the video if you wish as this incident happened just after 8am and I never made a scene at all.
I demand an explanation for this or am taking this further as I am not the only resident in Umdloti that think the Spar Umdloti staff are not nice and as for their food, I could go on and on but the issue here is not the food but the management attitude.
Regards
Natasha
