About Royal Canadian Mounted Police
Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is the national law enforcement agency in Canada, formed in the year 1920. Formerly the agency operated as Dominion Police, North West Mounted Police and then as Royal Northwest Mounted Police. Headquartered at Ontario, the police force employs close to 29,000 across the country. The RCMP and it’s 15 divisions are controlled by the Public Safety Canada. Also known as The Mounties, the force provides policing services to 3 territories, 8 provinces, more than 150 municipalities and 600 Aboriginal communities. RCMP enforces laws throughout the country, investigates crime and puts the security of residents its top priority. It also monitors and checks terrorism, organized crime, illicit drugs, trafficking, among others.

Headed by the Commissioner, the Canadian law enforcement agency manages operations through divisions that identify with each province. The list includes National Division (Ottawa, Ontario, and Gatineau, Quebec), Newfoundland and Labrador, Quebec, Manitoba, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Alberta, Prince Edward Island, Yukon, Ontario, and Nunavut. As for the ranks, while the Commissioner is at the top, under him comes the Deputy and Assistant Commissioners, Superintendent, Inspector, Sergeants, Corporals, Constables, and Special Constables.
