About Rashtrapati Bhavan
Rashtrapati Bhavan is the official residence of the President of India. A major tourist attraction in Delhi, Rashtrapati Bhavan is said to be the second largest presidential palace in the world. Constructed in the year 1929, the Rashtrapati Bhavan is spread across 200,000 sq ft and boasts of 340 rooms, including guest rooms, halls and offices. It was formerly known as the Viceroy’s House (before Independence). The heritage building is also surrounded by various gardens that makes up the Mughal Garden. It is open to the general public each year from August to March.

Visitors are also enthralled by the ceremonial ‘Change of Guard’ that happens every Saturday at 10 am. Guests and foreign visitors are accommodated at the Paradise Banquet Hall. There is a museum within the presidential complex that allows visitors get a view of the art and architecture. Visitors are allowed from 9am to 4pm. Entry is through Gate 2 (Rajpath), Gate 37 (via Dalhousie Road-Hukmi Mai Marg), and Gate 38 (via Church Road-Brassy Avenue). Valid identity cards must be carried along.
