About Pixar Animation Studios
Pixar is an American movie studio that creates animated feature films. A subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, Pixar is renowned for much loved favorites such as the Toy Story, Coco and The Incredibles. The animation company began as a computer graphics division of George Lucas’ Lucasfilm. Before creating movies, it sold computer imaging software and hardware such as the Pixar Image Computer. In 1986, Pixar began as an independent company and garnered success with its short films. Finally, it came under Disney’s control after the acquisition for $7.4bn in 2006. The creative powerhouse manages all operations from its headquarters at Emeryville, California.
The Toy Story was Pixars first feature debut film. It released in 1995. There were sequels to it, with the Toy Story 3 being the highest grossing film in the franchise. Not just Toy Story, there were other movies that were successful and were considered franchises. You have Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles and Cars. Most of Pixar’s movies feature in the top 50 highest grossing animated films of all time. Together, the first 21 animated films have brought Pixar revenue of $14 billion worldwide.
