Opened in the year 1996, the popular tourist attraction held the record for being the tallest building in the world for 6 years. Petronas is short for Petroliam Nasional Bhd, Malaysia’s national petroleum corporation. Built on a former horse-racing track, Petronas Towers is 88 storey high and was built at a cost of $1.8 billion. Each tower weighs 300,000 tonnes. The place boasts of about 5,400 parking bays. It also houses 29 double-decker high-speed passenger lifts.
