My name is Vincent and I am almost 93 years old and have been a Yankee fan my whole life, it is very rare that I miss a game. I would like to offer some advise to Manager Aaron Boone about the current hitting situation with Gary Sanchez, his batting can be improved by changing his left elbow position to a horizontal position, he currently starts his swing by raising his elbow then swinging which makes for a belayed swing. By starting with his elbow in the horizontal position he will improve his swing time with out delay.
Go Yankees, Thank You Vincent Fiorica
As a long-time Yankee fan and baseball coach, it pains me to watch the Yankees now.
I don not fault you for their performance in recent years as I believe you are one of the best GM’s in the game. However, I feel the Yankees will never win it all as long as Hal Steinbrenner is calling the shots. All he seems to care about is staying under the cap which has prevented the Yankees from making deals that would greatly benefit the team.
Do you think George S. would have allowed Lindor to go to the Mets when the Yanks were in need of a reliable shortstop? Clearly, Torres is not the answer. He is totally inconsistent in terms of footwork and throwing angle which accounts for his erratic throws to first. Even getting Didi back would be an upgrade at the position as well as adding an effective lefty bat to the line-up.
Had they gotten Lindor or Didi, the infield could consist of Le Mahieu at first, Torres at second and Urshela at 3rd along with the shortop, a dramatic improvement over the current situation.
Brian–I’m counting on you to influence Steinbrenner to make moves that will improve the team, not the bottom line. It is no coincidence that the Yanks haven’t won it all in more than a decade. This trend will continue until Hal S. is replaced or you can convince him to give up decision-making authority on trades.
It’s making me sick to watch the Yankees, I don’t understand all this resting of players. You got Stanton out for 13 days he comes back plays one game and you rest him the following day it’s absolutely ridiculous. People pay good money to watch the stars play I’ve been a Yankee fan my whole life my favorite team is the 61 Yankees I don’t care what the analytics say there’s a thing called hot . I can’t put up much more of this
I don’t know why Yankees don’t fire that hitting coach Marcus Thames and hire one of this great hitters we used to have like Wade boggs, Paul oneil, arod, Reggie just to name a few
Hello Yankees What is going on? Keep going this way and you’ll be sellers at the trading deadline like in 2016. George Steinbrenner was right, The Yankees can’t win with all minor league players from their farm system, it just won’t work. You need a blend of your own players or top notch minor league players from another team who are ready to play and Six Big name Free agent Super stars who are still young but with at least 6 or 7 years of experience, 2 Hitters, 2 Sluggers, & 2 Super Pitchers. Yes! It’s going to be expensive and you’re going to have to pay these guys a lot of $$ and sign them for at least 8 years. Trade some of the present players to Detroit, Seattle or Miami for their very top prospects. Keep DJ, Aaron Judge, Gleyber Torres, Gerit Cole, Domingo German, Gio Urshela and Chapman. Trade everyone else, The Yankees can get a lot for those players. The Yankees need to start winning World Series Championships again and I don’t mean 1 title every 8 to 15 years. It Must be Yearly and winning 3 to 4 Years in row like in the mid to late 90’s or like the 50’s when they won 5 straight. Or the Yankees Dynasty 1921-1964. We don’t want the Cardinals, Giants, Dodgers or Boston to be up there with us in World Series Titles. Something must be done soon. The last time the Yankees lost 100 or more games was in 1912. PLEASE lets avoid that.
I’m tired of watching the Yankees lose and they break my heart every time the Red Sox & Tampa Bay beat us. If the Mets start winning the World Series yearly like the Yankees used to do I will be crushed. Why does Judge & Sanchez swing at balls 6 feet outside and in the dirt? You cannot hit those pitches. My roommate Peter Marino likes Judge an awful lot and hopes he becomes like Roger Maris as a Yankee the way he was during the first 3 years in NY. Those umpires must go, We hope the Yankees do what they did in 1978. Peter told me in 1978 the Yankees were in 4th place 141/2 games behind Boston. Bob Lemon took over and The Yankees overtook the Red Sox defeating them in the 1 game playoff at Fenway Park. They won the World Series too that year. & The 1914 miracle Braves that in Mid June they were in last. George Stallings said a few words and the Boston Braves caught fire winning 60 of 76 games and they caught the powerful NY Giants and won the pennant easy. Then they swept & wiped out Connie Mack’s Philadelphia A’s in 4 straight in the World Series. Following the upset Connie Mack dismantled his powerhouse and the A’s would not win another pennant & World Series until 1929. Though in 1928 Connie Mack’s A’s almost took the pennant from us with TY Cobb, Tris Speaker, & a young Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons, & Lefty Grove. The Yankees swept the A’s in a late September series to win the 1928 Pennant & sweep the Cardinals in Four. Try a scare tell them the team is planning on trading you like they did to Roger Maris in 1961. It worked, He hit 61 Homers. WE LOVE THE YANKEES. GO YANKEES.
I think this team is DUMB. They dont know how to run the basis. hey cant advance the runners. The chemistry from 2017 is gone. We let DIDI go. We traded for Stanton. I gave up on Frazier he’s not developing. Let’s get rid of this stupid analytics and hire Buck Showalter for some action.
I have been a Yankees fan for 60 years . It hurts to watch the Yankees play. They do absolutely nothing correct except to strike out! Major changes have to be made to make them competitive in the American League East! First the whole coaching staff must be fired! Then Hal you have to get athletic players that hit for average instead swinging from their butts!
I have been a fan for 43 years and this has to be one of the worst teams ever. It hurts to watch them play. It’s even worse than the teams of the 80’s. How much longer do we have to wait to see a change for updated leaders from the GM to the manager. Years ago several changes would have been made early in the season to get the right team on the field. What are we waiting for, you can expect better results if changes are not made.
I changed my mind, The Yankees are all done this year and if you keep these guys the CBS years will return soon, and if you’re not careful the 1903-1913 years will be here even sooner. Aaron Judge must be removed from the team, On Saturday vs the Mets Judge hit a meaningless Home Run down 8-0. He looked proud in the process. You can’t win with just your own farm system players. You need to buy top notch players from other clubs. Sign veteran unrestricted free agents from other teams who have at least 6 years of experience who can handle the pressure anywhere they play. Hitters & Pitchers. I love the Yankees but this is the worst I’ve seen them since 1990 when they went 67-95. They need better scouting agents, They need to go more international like Cuba, South America and find payers who are going to be true Yankees players, who will play 15-20 all with one team. They could lose 100 games if they keep playing like this. If Baltimore sweeps us and we can’t defeat teams like Boston, Tampa Bay, and teams with winning records. Don’t give Aaron Judge a 10 year contract, we will be sorry. Either at the all star break trade or trade deadline, Judge to either Milwaukee or San Francisco. If you trade him to San Francisco, they would take his bat.
The press won’t eat him alive out there and he’ll do really good with the Giants. You will get a lot in return for him like some top prospects and a quality player too. Next season you got to open the check book & Wallet and sign several of Great Free agents who can help you win the World Series Multiple years in a row, bring the Dynasty years back to the Yankees and if you don’t want to do that then sell the team to another billionaire or Corporation who really loves the Yankees like I do so we can be on top forever. If the Red Sox begin to dominate us they could catch us someday and become Baseball’s number one team and believe me you don’t want that so sell, & trade the bad players and sign great free agents or buy them. Do something right. My dad is a Yankees fan since 1948. He lives in The Villages, Florida. We used to talk baseball, but now he doesn’t want to talk to me because you guys are playing poorly.
The Yankees had to sweep this weekend series vs. Boston. Those poor young AAA players who were just getting Confidence probably lost it in Thursday loss. It’s time to start thinking next year. George was right, Young kids can’t play in NY. They need at least 6 years in the minors or 6 years of Major League experience, players who are tough and won’t choke on the Yankees. Maybe if the Mets win a couple of World Series titles it might wake them up. Hal, Next year you got to open the checkbook and sign 4 Quality free agents who you think won’t gag in Pinstripes. For now the time has come to help other contenders trying to win the World Series. TRADE ONE: Gary Sanchez, Gio Urshella, Clint Frazier, and Starting pitcher to San Francisco for Starting Left Handed Pitcher Alex Wood, Catcher Buster Posey, OF Mike Yastrzemski & Two top prospects with a first & second round pick. TRADE 2: Miguel Andujar, Rob Brantly, Pitcher Nick Nelson & Cash to the Dodgers for Left Handed Starting Pitcher Julio Urias and 2 prospects and a second round pick. Trade 3 : I love Aaron Judge,he’s a great leader, Trade Judge, Aroldis Chapman, & Brooks Kriske to the San Diego Padres for Closer Mark Melancon, 1B-3B- OF Wil Myers, & Shortstop Fernando Tatis Junior. and three top prospects. The Padres will give Judge a 10 year contract & he’ll hit many Home Runs with them. In our case We give Tatis Jr. A 10 year contract too. Torres moves to second Base, LeMahieu at Third. Odor & Gittens can share time at First. Posey at Catcher. We still Have Gardner, and continue to play the kids from AAA, You never know, Maybe they’ll catch fire and will be a wildcard team. If the Yankees make those moves I just mentioned the Yankees will win the World Series next year. Yaz is the Grandson of Red Sox great Carl. He’ll blast 50 Homers in NY. So Yankees lets get our acts together and win.
To the Yankees manager please I’m begging you get rid of Joey Gallo he couldn’t see the freaking ball if it was sitting on a T-ball stand
Lifetime (since the late 50’s) Yankees fan, and have spent a lot of time and money supporting this team. Bringing back Boone has to be one of the worst decisions I’ve ever seen. Do you people even watch the games?? Don’t you see this guy has no idea what he’s doing? Don’t you see he doesn’t hold his players and coaches accountable? Don’t you see the impact a GOOD manager (see Cora) can have on a team. You have just sent a message to legions of Yankees fans that you really don’t care about winning. Enjoy your mediocrity. I now live in Georgia so go Braves!!
Floyd, something tells me you are not a real Yankees fan. I lived in Atlanta for some time. I even went to a game at Turner Field when the Nationals were the Montreal Expos. Dennis Martinez pitched for the Expos that night. It was May 28 1998. I could have become a Brave fan then, but did not. I live and die with the Yankees.
So the Yankees and WPIX sell out to Apple, locking up games on Apple streaming that I would have to pay for, if I could even get it (hardcore Android/PC user and Apple hater). If the Yankees think I’m going to subscribe, no way. Keep going the way you’re going, half the baseball fans today than there were a few years ago. The game has turned into a 3-1/2 to 4 hour snooze fest anyway. It is not only possible but highly routine for two hours to pass in a game with no runner for either team ever reaching first base. Exciting stuff!!!!!
I am totally disgusted with what the Yankees did today in dropping Miguel Andujar. He has been one of the best producers in the past few weeks. They have lots of dead weight that could have been sent down instead. Among them is a life-long minor leaguer who is not even hitting his weight, Kyle Higoshiaka. How about such non productive players as Gallo and Hicks? If you don’t want to go that route you have several pitchers who have little to no value on the staff.
Instead you take a valuable asset and drop him again. Pathetic!
I have been a Yankee fan since the 1940’s and Management is testing my patience. I’m not sure who to blame but Boone and Cashman deserve criticism for this gutless move!
Steve, I’m in a 100% agreement with you. That decision regarding Miguel was a hasty, ill-thought and pathetic. Why is Gallo still in the line-up everyday ? And also, why didn’t Aaron Boone adjust the pitching match- up against the Mets at Citi Field? The Mets intentionally adjusted theirs so that Scherzer would face the Yankees. They are doing it again so that Scherzer and DeGrom would face them at Yankee stadium later this month. Yankees need to adjust their pitching so that Cole and Cortez would face the Mets at Yankee stadium. I’m so disappointed with the current management, not Brian, but the Steinbrenners and Boone. I really miss George.
Why is pitcher COLE allowed to wear his hair long and hanging out back of cap. Other players are note allowed. Looks Very Unprofessional for a player… especially Yankees!
I hope the Yankee Management will get my message here. George is turning over in his grave regarding the state of the Yankees now. Yea, they have the best record in MLB, but they can’t win a series against the most-hated Astros and their cross-town rivals , Mets. I was so disappointed in Boone when he failed to adjust his pitching match-up against the Mets so that Cortez and Cole would face them. Domingo German and Jameson to face the Mets ?? No wonder, they lost shamefully to the Mets. One thing y’all should know that the Mets regard this meeting with Yanks every year as their World Series. Their success for every season is dependent on how they fare against the Yankees in the subway series. That’s why they over-jubilate whenever they beat the Yankees. It’s so comical. This year, they are on pace to again, like last year, to embarrass the Yankees.
This gentleman is correct. I have been a N.Y. Yankee fan from the 50’s. They keep adding and getting rid of players to no prevail. The ownership, manager and coaches should be held accountable because they are the problem. The pitching coach if they have one, can’t tell if the pitcher is actually ready or not. I believe that they actually need a hitting coach that knows something more than players striking out. Look at last night’s game. The Yankee hitters had (13) strike outs compared to Toronto’s (6). Wow, what can you say. There is an actual solution but you have to have a hitting coach. The Yankees play chicken-shat ball instead instead of good-ole fashioned sandlot ball which is real baseball. The play this way because Boone doesn’t know any better. But bottom line, it’s all on the ownership. And yes, George is turning over in his grave because it wouldn’t have happened on his watch. From a not so loyal fan at this time.
I am watching the Yankees vs blue jays and I’m getting sicker by the minute. Answer me just one question? Torres last two at bats, he had 3-0 counts and swings at balls 3 inches off the plate. He would have walked 2 times. But no he strikes out once and grounds out the next time. No. I have another question? Am I the only one who sees this? Where’s the batting coach? Can he go to Boone and scold this player in the dugout right after this happens? Pull him out of the game immediately. Just because he hits a homer here and there is not what this team needs at this time. If Boone doesn’t get it he should be let go first. I think his approach is not working and there has to be better options. Right now a yankee fan for over 60 years, I hope they lose the division. Someone has to listen. Please!!! This team cannot think this pitching staff can win with an offense scoring 1-2 runs. Again, Check out the Torres issue and you will see how right I am. Innings over when could be bringing up another hitter. Timing is everything. Pull Torres and this young man will learn from his mistakes. If not, find another team. Thanks for you’re time and letting me VENT.
