About Natural History Museum
Natural History Museum is a landmark building in London, UK. A museum of national history, the place opened doors in the year 1881. Till 1992, the museum was known as British Museum (Natural History). Over 5 million people visit the museum annually. Visitors find an impressive collection that includes over 55 million animal exhibits, 70 million botanical items, 9 million archaeological items, and rocks and minerals. Much of the initial collections were donated by renowned doctor, Sir Hans Sloane. One of the crowd pullers here is the 26-metre long Diplodocus (dinosaur) called Dippy. It is believed to have lived 145 million years ago.
Within the museum, there are four zones you will find – the Blue, Red, Green and Orange. In the blue zone you have galleries that include dinosaurs, fishes, amphibians, reptiles, mammals, etc. In green zone, you have the Creepy Crawlies, Fossil Marine Reptiles, Birds, Minerals, Hintze Hall and the Treasures Cadogan Gallery. In the red zone, there is the Earth Hall and Stegosaurus, Human Evolution, From the Beginning, Earth’s Treasury. At the orange zone, you will find Darwin Centre and Wildlife Garden

We visited the Wildlife Photography Exhibition on 26th January. The exhibition was excellent as always. However,we were disappointed not to be able to view the whole exhibition due to lack of time. Our tickets were for 16:45, the exhibition was very busy therefore we had to wait to view some of the photos and read the information. We were ushered out of the exhibit at 17.50. We didn’t have enough time to see all the photographs and we weren’t able to view the films. I feel there should be information provided explaining that the exhibition closes promptly and that there is a possibility that you may not see all of the photographs on view if you visit at 16.45.
Once again I’d like to reiterate how wonderful the photographs are but the three of us and possibly others would have liked another 15 minutes to complete our viewing. Maybe the museum needs to revise it’s last ticket times to 16.30.
