About National Museum of Anthropology
National Museum of Anthropology is a repository of archaeological and historical objects in Mexico. It gives a glimpse of the country’s rich cultural heritage that encompasses the Aztecs, Mayas, Zapotecas, Mixtecas, Purépechas, and Olmecs. Located within the Chapultepec Park in Mexico City, the museum is locally known the Museo Nacional de Antropología (MNA). Established in the year 1964, the museum welcomes more than 2 million visitors each year and is managed by the National Institute of Anthropology and History.

The National Museum of Anthropology was built by Mexican architect Pedro Ramírez Vázquez and is spread across 79,700 sq mts. There are 23 rooms with exhibits. Among the highlights are the Group of Figures from the Olmec culture and the 22-ton Aztec Sun Stone. You have Mayan civilization treasures, art objects, frescoes, figures and archaeological artifacts from numerous ancient cultures.

The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9am to 7pm. It is closed every Monday of the year. As for tickets, visitors will need to pay 70 Mexican pesos for entry. Senior citizens and children under 13 are exempted from paying.
