About National Monument
The National Monument, or Monas is a national monument in Indonesia. Established in the year 1975, Monas is located in the centre of Merdeka Square, Central Jakarta. The project was spearheaded by first President of Indonesia, Sukarno. The monument is about 137 meters tall and has a flame coated with 35 kg of gold on top. The monument, built in memory of those who joined the independence struggle, also houses a museum and a hall for meditation.

Visitors can reach the top of the monument by elevator. At the top you can see incredible view of the city. Besides a museum, other attractions include a park and fountain. The monument and museum is open from 8am to 3pm. There is also the Hall of Independence (Ruang Kemerdekaan) that contains various symbols of independence, including the original text of the Proclamation of Independence. Tickets are available at the entrance. Price to the Cup and the museum is Rp. 2,500.
