About Melbourne Museum
Melbourne Museum is a landmark building located in the Carlton Gardens in Melbourne, Australia. A cultural and historical museum, the place is popular among local and foreign visitors. Located right next to the Royal Exhibition Building, the museum is visited by over 1 million visitors each year. Opened in the year 2000, it is said to be the largest museum in the Southern Hemisphere and also boasts of a number of cafes. Managed by the Museums Victoria, the museum complex also has a souvenir shop and an IMAX theatre that shows movies and documentaries.
Designed by Denton Corker Marshall architects, the museum opens at 10am and closes at 5pm. Tickets for entry can be purchased at the museum or directly on the website using a credit card. An adult ticket on the website costs $14. The prices can vary on dates, so it is best to check with the customer service. Children (up to 16 years) can enter for free. Note that visitors will need to buy separate tickets for adults and children, for access to the IMAX theatre.
