About LeapFrog

LeapFrog Enterprises, Inc., more often referred to as LeapFrog is a California based multinational conglomerate. Founded by Michael Wood and Robert Lally in 1994, LeapFrog was acquired by Knowledge Universe in 1998. The acquisition ended in the year 2002 when the organisation became a part of another company named Vtech. Headquartered in Emeryville, California, LeapFrog Enterprises specialises in the designing, development and marketing of technology-based products which facilitate learning in small children. LeapFrog is also responsible for the production of supporting content for their gadgets which allows children of all age groups (infants and grade-schoolers) to learn effectively. Currently headed by John Barbour, LeapFrog is sailing well at a revenue of US$ 305 million. LeapFrog is one of the pioneers in the field of interactive learning and has been a recipient of many awards from time to time. From Kidscreen Awards to National Parenting Products award, LeapFrog has won many accolades for their splendid work in the field.

LeapFrog’s first product was the Phonics Desk, which was launched in 1995. Interestingly, the idea for the product came after the founder Michael Wood, an attorney, faced some difficulties while teaching his son. The prototype for this product used a Texas Instruments chip. This chip was used by one of Michael Wood’s clients – a greeting card company which used this product to manufacture greeting cards that produced sound. After the product was fine-tuned, it was stocked by the famous toy retailer, Toys “R” Us. While being acquired by Knowledge Universe and later on by Vtech, LeapFrog produced a series of very successful learning toys including, LeapFrog Epic, Leap Tv, LeapBand, Leap Reader, LeapStart, LeapPad Explorer, Tag Reading System, My Pal Scout, The Original LeapPad and Tad’s Subtraction Sheet. LeapFrog also leapt into the world of applications and has developed several applications for smartphones such as Scout’s ABC garden app, Creativity Camera and Mr Pencil.

LeapFrog products can be purchased from its official website. From products to applications to online learning games, the website has it all. Customers can also filter out the specific products to buy for their children by inputting the skill they want to improve and the age of the child. The website hosts blogs and articles for parents to go through before picking the products to buy. A tab for customer support is also part of the website. LeapFrog products can also be purchased from leading portals and retail outlets including, Amazon, Fun Corp, Landmark, Shoppers Stop, Walmart, Target, Pulse, GameStop, Best Buy, eBay, Entertainment Earth, Overstock, Kmart, JCPenney, and Walgreens.
