About Leap Card
Leap Card is a reusable plastic smart card used to pay for public transport in Ireland. Introduced in 2011, TFI Leap Card can be loaded with travel credit which can be used to pay for transport in and around Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford, Sligo, Athlone and Wexford. With a Leap Card commuters can save up to 30% on single tickets. One can also enjoy features such as Capping and the Leap 90 Discount.

The travel card can be purchased from any of the 650+ outlets across the country. There are also ticket machines from where they can purchased. You can locate an outlet online by entering town, city or postcode. The easiest way to purchase the card would however be on the website. There are adult, student and child cards. The costs vary for each. You have the option to load annual and monthly tickets for adults and children. Details on which transport operator the ticket applies are published online.

Note that the fares are different for Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford and Wexford. You have one day and seven day ticket options. When travelling in Dublin, you can use the Leap Card at all Dublin Bus scheduled services, Go-Ahead Ireland services, Swords Express, Collins Coaches, Bus Eireann services and with Ashbourne Connect. Also use for Luas and DART & Commuter Rail services.

Top-up of card can be done any any of the Leap Card payzone outlets, DART ticket machines or on the website using major credit cards. Download the Leap Top-up App to top-up, buy tickets and collect directly from phone. Avoid the hassles of checking balance on card by setting up an automatic direct debit through the Auto Top-up feature. Ensure you have sufficient funds in your account for the amount to be debited. You will get a notification through email or SMS before the direct debit. You can disable the feature anytime from your online account. Disabling can take up to 3 working days.

Note that Leap Card can only be used by the person in whose name it was registered. Adult and Child TFI Leap Cards can be refunded or replaced. Leap Visitor Cards however cannot be refunded or replaced. You can request a refund or replacement by logging into your account.
