About Lake District National Park
Lake District National Park is a popular holiday destination in North West England. Located within the Lake District, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the place was recognized as a national park in 1951. The Lake District National Park is currently the second largest in the UK and is the most visited national park in the country. More than 19 million visitors throng to this place each year. According to sources, some 6,000 archaeological sites and monuments are listed in the Lake District.

Spread across 2,292 sq kms, the park is home to the country’s highest peaks and deepest lakes. Some of the top mountains include Scafell Pike, Helvellyn, Skiddaw, Great End, Bowfell, Great Gable, Pillar, Nethermost Pike and Catstycam. Some of the lakes you can find here include Windermere, Ullswater, Derwentwater, Bassenthwaite Lake, Coniston Water, Haweswater, Thirlmere, Ennerdale Water, Wastwater, Esthwaite Water, Butteremere, Grasmere and Rydal Water. The national park includes 26 miles of coastline and estuaries. Well known poet William Wordsworth is said to have been inspired by the beauty of the region as he penned some of his best works.

You can take part in a group or guided tour to explore the park.
