About Komodo National Park
Komodo National Park is a popular tourist attraction in Indonesia composed of three islands named Komodo, Rinca and Padar. Established in 1980, the park is famous for the Komodo dragon species with more than 6000 spread out across the park. In addition to the large lizards, the park also boasts of more than 250 species of coral species, tropical fish, snakes, sharks and sea turtles. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986, the park is surrounded by bays, beaches, cliffs and lush green vegetation. Spread across 1,817kms, there are now about 4,000 inhabitants in the park.
Komodo National Park is managed by the central government of Indonesia. Visitors to the park can go hiking, snorkeling or just stroll through the villages. Visitors must take the ferry to reach the tourist destination. You can enter the park through Labuan Bajo in Flores or Bima in eastern Sumbawa. Admission is not free and will be charged separately for adults and children. For tour activities, transportation, guides or others, you can reach the local tour operators.
