About Kijiji Canada
Kijiji is a popular classifieds website in Canada. Launched in the year 2005, Kijiji is operated by eBay and features millions of ads from a wide range of categories. Users can buy, sell and trade automobile, goods, among other items. The platform connects more than 16 million locals. It connects the areas – Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and Saskatchewan. There is a drop down on the website to filter ads by location.
New users need to register on the Kijiji platform to start buying and selling goods, advertise services, real estate or jobs. You can use the search bar on the top to filter ads by keyword. On each post, you will find detailed description, details on the poster and pictures related to the product or service. You can contact the advertiser/retailer by getting address and phone details or leaving a private message on the Kijiji platform.
If you are posting an ad, you can select a category, provide detailed description and add images or videos. While the ad can be posted for free, you can use the premium services to promote ads. You can bump up the ads to the first page, or highlight the ad in a unique color. The free and premium ads can be viewed and deleted by signing into your account. For more information or queries on registration, payment, premium ad, cancellation, technical support, or others, reach the Kijiji customer service.
I’ve used your site many times in the past to sell household items and to find things that I was looking for to buy used. It used to be a very good site and quite useful. Even up until last year it was working fine for me. Although from the previous comments I see that some of these issues have been going on for quite some time. Is there anyone in this organization that will pay attention to these comments and fix the issues? My issue is similar to others where I have attempted to sign in at least 10 times yesterday and five more times today. It keeps telling me I’m signed in. But my profile and account does not come up. And then anytime I go to send a message or reply, it tells me I have to sign in again which I do and then it tells me sorry we have an error.
I tried selling a laptop thru my kijiji account. And got Blocked contacted them and received no answer. Created a different account posted the same. Laptop got blocked again and no answer again. Created a 3rd account posted a set of tires and got blocked again customer service no answer. Then I texted them on Facebook thru messenger and finally you I got an answer. I am no longer welcome on their platform because I tried to post unpermitted content. I posted the product with exactly the same text on Facebook buy and sell and It was gone in 3 hours. I used kijiji for 11 years I am extremely disappointed in the way they treat people. Customer service is the worst on this.
Kijiji sucks the same thing happened to me I got blocked for absolutely no reason at all and they don’t give you a reason so then you have no clue at all whatsoever. And then contacting them through online chat I done that three times same thing they just end the chat right there. It’s got to be a way to talk to them that’s horrible. And now I’m like never allowed on kijiji again. I think it’s because I had two sets of lawn bowls the exact same so I sold one and I just put the same ad because it was the same ones and I believe that’s why I got banned but I think I’m never going to know.
Kijiji terminated my account with no warning or explanation. I occasionally use Kijiji to sell/buy household items. The last time I used Kijiji was to find a Math tutor for my kid. Kijiji decided to terminate my account which I only noticed when I could not login. I contact Kijiji Support for help and receive this message from Kijiji Support.
Upon review of your account, we’ve made the decision that we are not the appropriate advertisement platform for you personally or your business model. We do appreciate your understanding and cooperation. I deeply apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you and we thank you in advance for respecting our decision.
I suspect that Kijiji Customer service doesn’t enforce its site policies as along as misleading and fraudulent ads full of stolen intellectual property receive many view hits. If this is true and I suspect it is it means a deep level of corruption within the organization and means its pointless to complain about dishonest sellers and their ongoing 24/7 365 days a year underhanded and unsavory business practices. There doesn’t seem to be a way to get to get past customer service to the upper echelon’s of the company to lodge a complaint and its my guess this is by design as well. What is a better defense then I was not aware. I use to love Kijiji but with all the commercial business’s posing as private sellers with having multiple email address accounts and then flooding the pages with the same item but using different photos the Kijiji experience kinda sucks from a buyers perspective.
I lost my two cats recently and they passed away within 3 weeks of each other. I’m well educated but I’m not tech savy. I tried Kijiji re-homing pets section and was confused about which sub-categories to click. I was willing to adopt from either an owner or a shelter, so I placed 2 ads. The ads kept on being removed. I tried live chat and an employee named Sarah was not only rude but accused me of “pet flipping”. I tried to do a review(complaint) of her and she and the following three employees just “hung up” from the Live chat . I have now found this section(comments). I adopted my two boys and am heartbroken and this is made worse by the fact that Kijiji would accuse me of something as unscrupulous as “cat flipping”. What a low-life, unprofessional way to treat a customer. A good company cares not only about its customers but also is smart enough to cares about its reputation. Just because someone is not an IT expert and is confused about the site doesn’t mean they are up to no good or that they are trying to “cat flip”.
I “flip” the bird to this experience!
These people are insane, you have a problem, been ripped off and there is no way to report it. Sure it says Submit Email or for faster service there is Live Chat however how do you get faster response than no response at all. Been looking at the “Please Wait spinning gear” for three days now.
This is my first time ever in my entire 27 years that I have ever felt the need to leave a comment. I have never used Kijiji in my life but decided only recently to use it to rent my condo. My condo is a 3 1/2 located in downtown Montreal fairly priced at $1650 for long term rental. Upon posting my ad, it was taken down momentarily. I have tried reaching the live chat but they said my ad was suspicious, closed the chat and blocked account just like that. Moving forward, I have spoken to several other agents which all closed the chat box immediately after the first message. I’ve tried sending email as well with no reply, even messaged your instagram page who told me they would look into it. This is UTTERLY FRUSTRATING.
Was good until a few years ago. You want to sell a product or a service now? Enjoy getting your ads deleted one second after posting them for no reason whatsoever. Oh, you want to reach a customer representative to know why your paid ad got deleted? No way to speak with anybody. No phone number, no email. Just a little useless form to fill out. Then, you have to choose whether you want to chat with “a live rep” or send an email. Whatever option you choose, you will get the same result: a little rotating gear saying “Please wait….” going on for ever. You will never be connected with a live agent, and your email will never be sent. Literally no way of contacting them. I never thought I’d say this in my entire life, but i’ve finally found a platform worst than craiglist: Kijiji.
I agree with 100% they have no customer service help at all..Ripped off by one of their advertising customers ..Wow I cannot even post a small text they keep saying to short to post.So ripped off twice once by a seller and now by Kijiji
What a frustrating and useless registration system Kijiji has for users. Three days of trying to open a new account and nothing but errors, running around in circles and total frustration. Can’t reach a live person, or a live chat, or anything other than the usual “We have received you email blah, blah, blah”! Get a live person on the phone for your users Kijiji, and make a helpful difference instead of a nightmare!
I have not had the need to go on Kijiji for anything until recently. What happened? I can’t find any personal ads by people, it is nothing but advertising. What is the purpose of Kijiji now? It is one giant catalog for businesses. Way to ruin a good thing.
Whoever is in charge of reviewing and approving adds is absolutely terrible at it. I use kijiji a lot but many of my adds get deleted for no reason whatsoever. And when I do the live chat the agents are extremely rude and useless. It’s to the point of me quitting. I pay 1000s of dollars a year to use your advertising and I wish you would treat me fairly.
Bought a top ad last week for my car and then it falls off – no where does it mention how long it was for. This is not cool. I guess it expires after a few days or a week as it is no longer a top ad. Please advise asap as I am trying to sell my car.
I just posted and ad and paid, then I realized that for some reason it had the wrong city, so I looked and realized that the only way to change it was to delete the ad. So I did and reposted but I had to pay again, this happen in a period of 10 minutes. How do I either get my money back or a credit?
The worst platform I’ve ever had to deal with. Not only do they randomly block you, their agents are terrible to deal with and no live conversation. Perhaps another platform will work instead of this joke
Kijiji made a mess of shopping for car parts. Spam sites like huntparts and partify dump lots of irrelevant ads and clutter the system. Its time to look for a new buy-sell site if Kijiji doesnt fix it. Kijiji is now a waste of time for auto parts. Kijiji doesnt even have a telephone number to call to identify the problem.
Just trying to register to use your site. I have registered three times. I then go to sign in and your site tells me I am not registered. Very frustrating and aggravating. Then try to get help. Help desk say, go through topics and if still need help can live chat or email. But no where do I find anything that leads me to live chat or emailing. I final find this site through google. Your site is bloody useless. I give up. Won’t be doing kijiji after all.
I did a search for a used boat trailer. After three pages there was none to be found! Just all sorts of crap, nothing to do with boat trailers at all. Your site , which I used regularly in the past, is essentially useless. I won’t post as there isn’t any way to search reliably. I guess you make good ad money and couldn’t give a crap about users. See ya
I just tried posting half a dozen new ads on Kijiji today (March 26) and they have all been deleted, “because they are duplicates”. However, they are NOT duplicates as I currently have no other ads posted on Kijiji. I deleted all my ads a few weeks ago as we were out of the country. Please help.
Until your recent “upgrade “ your site was useful, the dumbest thing you ever did was eliminate the “ adds near you” feature, your site is becoming more difficult to use and find things on, I don’t know who you have working on your so called “improvements”, but you really need to give them something to do rather than screw around with something that was working just fine, the more you try to “improve” your site, the worse it gets.
I posted an add 3 days ago and they easily took my money but getting help is total shit. I hate this frustrating thing and I’ll never use it again. It isnt easy to use like before. They should supply live help. I have questions that I cant get help for. Make this dam thing easier for people.
I lost my password to get in to my acount i try the option forgot my password they said they will send email but never did i try 3 time and still nothing what can i do
Hi – your site used to be excellent a couple or three years ago.
Whoever does the programming for the site is absolutely terrible. It is clunky, painfully slow, the “Captcha” security pops up when simply browsing and looking at items. The “contact seller email” function makes me want to jump off a building, it is so slow and frustrating!!! and does not work half the time, simply stops working and locks up. Like I say, you USED to have a good website but now I think I will not use it anymore and will convey the same info to others who ask about it.
Please fix it….
BTW – its not my computer, every other site I visit works just fine and all others functions have zero issues.
Someone is using my phone number to sell Drake concert tickets! I am being inundated with calls and message texts and I have no way of knowing how to correct this mistake. You do not seem to have an actual phone number available that I can call to correct this. I don’t know which ad it is ! But I would appreciate your immediate help in stopping this intrusion on my life
Dear Sir/Madam,
Can you refund me two redundant orders of the three orders I submitted just now when I posted my ad?The reference number of my three orders are CA20023540815,CA20023540855,CA20023540865.
Or you can move to my future orders.
Thanks a lot
Yours
Ting Liu

Please forward this to parties who can improve the buying and selling experience
Let’s ensure Kijiji keeps on being a viable business and continues to lead.
Time to look at the business model. Increasingly I am finding it harder to sell on Kijiji. But more alarming, I am finding it harder to buy on Kijiji.
It has become time consuming to search. Wading my way through private company adds that have little connection to what I am searching for is understandable – the revenue stream must be continued.
However, with the addition of “auction style” items, where I am not sure I will be able to buy, because ….it is an auction, makes the searching to buy experience, extremely discouraging. I rarely have any urge to even try to find something I want. The search process is too slow
Answer: Put a separate category for “auction style items”
so someone looking to buy can search.
Next: How difficult is it to sort, by price, correctly, the parent company eBay has no trouble doing this.
Again, the poor sorting leads to unpleasant searching
Answer: Step up the game.
Kijiji is becoming, perhaps is right at the threshold of becoming useless. I am not alone with my beliefs.
Next: Why must I constantly load in “info you have on file” for me when placing new adds? A safeguard for all, or just another inconvenience?
Answer: Make the sign in process more specific, require whatever it takes to make this time consuming, redundant activity, be no longer necessary.
Please, truly provide some analysis on the comments. Test by searching for household items that would be found at garage sales to learn quickly, how daunting a task it can be. Make the Kijiji experience as wonderful as it can be, otherwise Craigslist will continue to make inroads into Canada as is warranted by the above concerns Thanks Chris
Oh I have a comment alright! Your website sucks big time, regarding posting an ad in the friends section of Kijiji. I posted 2 ads saying that I am looking for a new female buddy, and both times they were yanked off the site. Actually, the #2 time, it said this ” user is blocked”! Now please, tell me what was soo bad about me looking for a female BUDDY?? Yes I am upset and no, I don’t/ won’t understand you. I posted an ad that was not related to a personals ad and you dingbats went and stripped it off the site. Kijiji is just a loser site!
