About Khao Yai National Park
Khao Yai National Park is a protected sanctuary located in Isaan, Thailand. Established in 1962 by a royal decree, the park is the first national park in the country and is surrounded by San Kamphaeng Mountain Range. Declared an ASEAN Heritage Park in 1984, the park boasts of more than 2000 different plant species, rainforests, mountains and waterfalls. Wildlife found here include elephants, deers, porcupines, hornbills, trogons, partridges, bears, leopards, vipers and reptiles. Visitors to the park can enjoy a range of activities for leisure and adventure such as camping, rafting or hiking. The Khao Yai National PArk is managed by the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, Thailand.

Spread across 2168 sq km, the Khao Yai National Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005. Also known as the Dong Phayayen-Khao Yai Forest Complex, the park charges admission fee for visitors. Rafting and other adventure activities are available in Prachinburi. If you are interested in wildlife, there are pick up trucks every evening. Camping is provided at restricted zones exclusively for it. Lodges are available, but prior reservation is needed.
