About Kensington Palace
Kensington Palace is a Royal residence located in Kensington Gardens, London. Owned by the Royal Family since the 17th century, the palace was purchased by the first Earl of Nottingham and called Nottingham House. It was built by Sir George Coppin in 1605. Kensington Palace was heavily damaged during the World War 2. It however was restored and went on to serve as the royal home even for Prince William and Prince Harry. It was also the official residence of Princess Diana till her death in 1997. As a matter of fact, Queen Victoria was born in Kensington Palace.

Half of the Kensington Palace property serves as apartments for members of the Royal family. The other half is open for the public as a tourist attraction. The latter include the State Rooms. Visitors will be enthralled by the White Garden, the King’s Gallery, King’s Staircase and King’s State Apartments, among others.

Kensington Palace is open for public all days from 10am to 6pm. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance or online using major credit cards. Children and youth under 16 can enter for free, while adults need to pay £15 for entry. Members of the Historic Royal Palaces enjoy unlimited access to all six historic royal palaces year round. Members also enjoy access to private Members’ Room and discounts in shops and cafes. HRP membership can be obtained online or by sending the form by post.

The Royal residence has dedicated facilities for the disabled. You also can hire wheelchair at the entrance. For some quick bites, head to The Orangery or the Palace Café, located at the front of the palace. Additionally, there is the Kensington Palace Shop where you can purchase gifts and souvenirs.
