About Jim Thompson House
Jim Thompson House is a popular museum located in Bangkok, Thailand. It houses the art collection of American entrepreneur Jim Thompson. Established in the year 1959, it is a real marvel showing off Thai design and architecture. The building is made of six Thai teak houses sourced from different places across Thailand. Jim Thompson, who even started a successful Thai silk business, was awarded the Order of the White Elephant, an award given to foreigners who have provided exceptional service.
At the Jim Thompson House, you will find the rooms adorned with Chinese Ming pieces, Belgian glass, Cambodian carvings and Victorian chandeliers. The art and antique collection can be classified into four main categories – Sculptures, Paintings, Porcelain and other collectible items. The Jim Thompson House is open from 9am to 6pm. Tickets for entry cost 150B. Students enjoy reduced fee. There are also guided tours available at the museum. There is a restaurant, besides a shop where you can purchase silk, wool and cotton clothing. The museum is located close to the Bangkok Art and Culture Center, MBK Center and Siam Square. You can conveniently reach the place through bus, taxi, Tuk Tuk, or the Sky Train. For more information or queries on tickets, timings, parking, transportation, or others, reach the Jim Thompson House customer service.
