About Indian Air Force
Indian Air Force (IAF) was founded in 1932 and is a chief component of the Indian armed forces. Headquartered at New Delhi, IAF has an active personnel of more than 140,000 and is the fourth largest air force in the world. Between 1945 to 1950, the IAF was often referred as the Royal Indian Air Force. The Chief of the Air Staff is the Commander of the Indian Air Force. Officer ranks under him include the Air Chief Marshal, Air Marshal, Air Commodore, Group Captain, Wing Commander, Squadron Leader, Flight Lieutenant, Warrant Officer, Sergeant, Corporal and Aircraftsman.

The IAF is responsible for combat support, air superiority, security and involvement in UN missions and humanitarian programs.
