About HRTC
Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) is the state road transport operator in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh, India. Established in the year 1958, HRTC is owned and operated by the government’s Ministry of Transportation. HRTC currently boasts a fleet of 3,100 buses operating on 2,500+ routes. It caters to a large number of passengers from the 29 depots spread across the state. The list of depots include Chamba, Keylong, Dharmshala, Palampur, Pathankot, Baijnath, Nagrota Bagwan, Jogindernagar, Dehra, Dharampur, Mandi, Sundernagar, Kullu, Karsog, Sarkaghat, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Rampur, Shimla (3 depots), Rohru, Solan, Nalagarh, Parwanoo, Nerwa, and Nahan. Most routes across northern India is covered by HRTC buses. Passengers can choose from ordinary to luxury coaches. Bus types include Volvu, Isuzu, Deluxe, Semi-Deluxe, Ordinary, Seater and AC Sleeper. Amenities vary according to bus coach. On longer routes, you can expect water bottles, pillows, charging points and television sets. Popular routes include Kullu, Manali, Kangra, Haridwar, Dharamshala, Delhi, Chamba, Shimla, Chandigarh, Mandi, Bilaspur and Ambala. You can view the schedule of buses on the website. Tickets can be booked at the reservation counter at bus depot or online.

HRTC operates a separate ticketing platform where travellers can reserve tickets at the comfort of their home. Tickets can also be booked via Redbus. When booking online, the HRTC platform will request for registration with personal details. Once registered, you can search and proceed to confirm seat. Payment for tickets can be made using debit card, credit card, Internet banking or digital wallet. Upon payment, HRTC will send a confirmation of itinerary via SMS or email. Passengers will be asked to show valid ID card when boarding bus. As for cancellation, note that HRTC charges 10% of fare if cancelled upto 12 hours prior to departure. A 25% of fare will be deducted if cancelled within 4-12 hours. No refund will be made in case of cancellation after departure of bus.
