Hellenic Duty Free Shops SA is an exclusive group of duty free retail outlets. The Company was founded in 1978 in Greece. Hellenic Duty Free Shops sells taxed as well as duty free goods from leading brands. They can be found at the exit points when traveling in Greece. What started as a two store company, now consists of more than 97 retail outlets in Greece alone. The shops are located at 45 checkpoints, with 22 being at airports, 11 at border checkpoints, and 12 on ports. Hellenic Duty Free Shops was listed on ATHEX but was later delisted in 2013, following Dufry acquisition of 49% of shares. The first two shops of the company were located at the eastern and western airports of Athens. The company introduced a single discount pricing model for some of the major product categories, and the special prices were maintained throughout. Hellenic Duty Free Shops ranked 7th in the World’s Top 50 Giant Operators in 2010. Hellenic Duty Free Shops was recognised as Best New Beauty Store for cosmetics and perfumes in the Intra Schengen area of the Athens International Airport.
