About Green Park Stadium
Green Park Stadium, formerly known as Modi Stadium, was established in the year 1945. The multipurpose ground, located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has a seating capacity of 45,000. The ground is owned by the Uttar Pradesh Government and managed by Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association. Mill Pavilion End and Hostel End are the two end names. The Green Park Stadium held its first Test in 1945 and first ODI in 1986.
It was in this ground that India recorded its first ever victory against Australia in 1959. Many such records have been made on this ground since then. The stadium has also been renovated to provide more seating capacity, modern facilities, among others. If you dint know, the stadium still has the largest manually operated score board. Till date, more than 20 Test matches and 14 ODIs have been held on this ground.
