About Flightradar24
Flightradar24 is a popular real-time flight tracking platform with global coverage. The Internet-based service was launched in 2006 and today boasts of more than two million users each day. Operated from the headquarters at Stockholm, Sweden, the service tracks over 180,000 flights each day. Flightradar24 is also used by major airlines and leading players in the aviation industry, including Boeing and Airbus. On Flightradar24, one can track air traffic live from around the world. The technology is supported by ADS-B, MLAT and radar data, along with schedule and flight status data from airlines. ADS-B, the key technology for the tracking, is short for automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast. According to the website, Flightradar24 has a network of more than 20,000 ADS-B receivers around the world. Apparently the service also relies on volunteers around the world for majority of coverage.

On the homepage, visitors will see an interactive map with the movement of flights. To find a flight, use the search to enter flight number, callsign, or registration. The blue points mark airports with passenger traffic in areas where Flightradar24 has coverage. You can choose to view by map or radar. You can further filter by airport, altitude, speed and aircraft. Data can be looked up by the list of airlines. The airline directory has names of all leading airlines and its current flights.

Playback feature is available for individual flights on web or app. Flight histories can be searched by aircraft or a specific flight. All users have free access to 7 days of flight history. You will need a subscription for access to more data. Currently, there are three subscription plans. Live flight tracking can be done with a free basic account. By upgrading to Silver, Gold and Business you get more extensive features. With Silver, you will enjoy an ad-free version, along with alerts, and 90 days of past flight data. With Gold, you also get aeronautical charts, aviation weather layers, and 365 days of past flights. Business subscription offers airport and fleet view, weather/lightning layer and much more.
