About Empire State Building
One of the most celebrated and spectacular attractions of New York City is the Empire State Building. With over 3.5 million visitors each year, this 102 storied, 1454-feet-tall, Art Deco masterpiece, which held the distinction of being the world’s tallest building for 40 years till 1970, is one of the most visited monuments in New York City and there is nary a visitor who doesn’t make a stop here. This national historic landmark has featured in numerous Hollywood movies and TV shows and affords a spectacular panoramic view of New York City and beyond.

Empire State Building is open every day from 8.00 am to 2.00 am and is accessible from 34th Street in Midtown Manhattan. The newly refurbished Visitor’s Center has self-serving ticket kiosks where you can buy tickets or if you have already done it online, you could print your tickets at the kiosks.Starting from the spectacular lobby with a breathtaking art deco mural on the ceiling, every bit of the landmark building is a feast for the eyes. There are two observation decks, one on the 86th floor and the other on the 102nd floor. The mind boggling views from both these observatories are a once in a lifetime experience and well worth the long lines. From there, one can see Central Park, Times Square, The Hudson River and the East River, The Brooklyn Bridge, The Statue of Liberty, the city grid and a host of skyscrapers dotting the horizon. Binoculars are available for viewing on both observatories.

Another unique feature of the Empire State Building is the lighting ceremony, where the whole building is colorfully lit up on special occasions. There are special light shows with music accompaniments for events, holidays and festivals. On the 80th floor there is a historical Dare to Dream exhibit which chronicles the history of the building, engineering and construction facts and the people involved in making this marvel. Also on the 80th floor is the Official store to take back memories with a host of keepsakes, souvenirs and gifts items for family and friends.

The lobby level houses numerous restaurants and cafes of various cuisines. There is also a pharmacy and other shops for visitor needs. The merchandise you can shop at the official store include Empire State Building branded apparel, memorabilia and more. There is an estore if you want to purchase apparel, posters, ornaments or replicas online. Purchases on the website can be made using major credit cards.

Open throughout the year, tickets cost $ 34 for adults, $ 27 for child and $ 31 for seniors. They can be purchased from the self-serving kiosks at the Visitor’s center or can be purchased online. Tickets are valid for use up to a year. Your ticket includes an all access pass and audio tour through an app which can be downloaded from Apple Store or Google Play and can be accessed in nine languages through the free Wi Fi available in the Empire State Building. Note that tickets are non-refundable. Tickets purchased online must be used within 14 days from purchase. Entry to all levels and both observatories is wheelchair accessible.
