About Doge’s Palace
Doge’s Palace, locally known as Palazzo Ducale, is a popular tourist attraction in the city of Venice, Italy. It is a palace built in Venetian Gothic style and served as the residence for Dodge, the highest ranking authority in Venice. Palazzo Ducale was built around 1340. Additionally, it housed the political bodies of the state, including the Great Council and the Council of Ten. The palace had law courts, ballrooms and courtyards. Though the palace was established in 1340, there were numerous expansions until 1420 and later. It was converted to an art museum in 1923.
The public entrance to the Doge’s Palace is through the Porta del Frumento. Once inside, you can walk through the Doge’s Apartments, the courtyard, institutional chambers, prisons and armoury. There is an events section on the website to keep a track of special events organised at the museum. You also can enquire for the special itineraries for individuals and groups. Doge’s Palace is open from 8.30am to 6pm. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance and is valid or 3 months. The tickets also include combined itinerary of Museo Correr, Museo Archeologico Nazionale and Monumental Rooms of the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana. Visitors with the Museum Pass can enjoy access to a number of museums besides Doge’s Palace. For more information or queries on tickets, timings, events, parking, transportation, or others, reach the Doge’s Palace customer support.
