About Depop
Depop is a marketplace for selling and buying unique and vintage items, art, apparel and general merchandise. Popular among millennials, Depop is available on both Android and iOS. Entrepreneur Simon Beckerman launched the service in 2011 and manages operations from offices at London, Los Angeles, Milan and New York City. The Depop community today boasts of 10 million+ stylists, designers, artists, collectors and vintage sellers.
You can join Depop for free. After successful registration you can begin to buy and sell items that can include clothing, sneakers, books, fashion accessories, music and much more. On the Explore section, you can discover curated and top items picked by experts. There are 10 million items that you can pick from. You can customise the feed preferences to be updated on what is most interesting to you.
Payment for purchases can be made with ease using PayPal. Purchases within the app are protected under the Buyer Protection. If you did not receive the item or have a concern with the item, you can report within 180 days to receive a refund. Purchases made without using the Buy button do not come under Buyer Protection. Non-material goods such as event tickets also are not covered.
If you have an item to sell, you can list the same for free. You can upload a photograph of the item, write a title and description, and set the price. Depop charges a 10% commission on items that sell. Sellers can choose to ship the item by their own or choose Depop’s shipping options (standard, medium, large and extra large). Shipping prices are based on the size and weight of the item. Sellers can set a shipping price for both domestic and international buyers.
Depop insists all refunds must be arranged between the buyer and the seller. To issue a refund, sellers can login to their PayPal account and select the transaction where a refund must be issued. As a seller, if you havent received payment in your account, check if PayPal account is verified or if buyer chose credit card to make payment. If latter, the amount will reflect in your account within 7-10 business days.

I don’t really like to complain but as its happened a few times now I felt it was only necessary to bring this to your attention.
I bought a top via your app, following all the correct procedures (messaging the seller before buying, paying through the app via paypal and waiting patiently for the item to arrive) Sadly, (and its happened a few times now) – the last one didn’t happen.
I then spent multiple days trying to message the seller asking for an update or tracking information – only to be ignored. Then nearly 2 weeks after the seller took my money and me having no item i get a reply to say she will refund me as she cannot locate the tracking etc.
I then wait a few days to receive my refund – which never comes through – and after chasing a few times i then get no reply.
I think with this same situation happening time and time again I find it too easy for buyers to take your money and then I am left out of pocket and with no item.
It then takes me time to contact the seller, you guys and paypal to ask for my money back which can now take up to 3 weeks.
It just feels so frustrating when the seller will be able to continue selling (and perhaps taking peoples money without posting the items) and i am left out of pocket for weeks on end. In effect putting me off ever using your app again.
Like i said i dont usually complain and in the past ive just accepted it as trial and error for the different sellers but i feel as though this time is the final straw and unfortunately ive been left out of pocket so many times now i wont be using your app again.
I just hope that in the future you can put a system in (perhaps that doesnt allow the seller to receive the money until the buyer receives the item) thus making it safer for buyers from being scammed and left out of pocket – and then maybe ill return to using your app again too.

I bought an item and it hasn’t arrived or been shipped and it’s been about a month. I keep trying to get a refund but it’s really complicated and I’m confused how to do it.
I am currently very upset with depop. A new problem has occurred depop is taking more money then it should. After a customer order something usually the shipping cost and the total cost of the item is all entered into my PayPal. Then Depop is supposed to take only 10% along with the shipping. Recently depop has been taking the shipping cost and way more than 10% leaving large orders only benefiting me in a few dollars or even cents. For example an order came that was $16.45. The $1.55 was taken out for the 10% in the $4.45 was taken out for the shipping cost. this is where the pop should’ve stopped yet they continue to take out another eight dollars. Leaving me with only $1.72. I have contacted customer support and if I do not receive my money back or a response I plan to just pay the money for a website. This has not happened every single time but this is the second time and it’s very concerning that I am spending all of this time making items in only receiving less than I should.
Same thing happened to me and im furious, have u ever got ur money back? I sold a pair of leggings for £17 and I got the money and all was good then in the space of 2 hours I received 2 notifications that “depop limited” had taken £4.20 and £5.70 from my account?
i’m currently very frustrated with depop. i’ve never once had a transaction outside of the app yet my account got banned. Now i have 3 pairs of shoes that i’m not sure have been shipped and i can’t get access to tracking numbers or shipping info.
I’ve had the exact same issue, depop permanently banned my account due to them believing i sold outside the app which i never did. Lost over a year of me trying to grow my depop account
I’m going through the exact same situation and have tried contacting depop multiple times through email with no help at all. I can’t input tracking numbers for shipments which is leaving people waiting..
I am constantly having items removed, my account suspended or cancelled without communication. They eventually get back to you and apologise saying it won’t happen again and then it does. I have never traded outside the app yet i am regularly being accused of this. In addition I have been accused of intellectual property theft, copyright infringement, selling sex toys. None of these things have happened. It is disgusting that they make such allegations and judge you with sanctions without proper investigation.
Its impossible to contact Depop. I ordered an item from depop a month and a half ago and I have tried to contact depop to get my money back but it is not possible. The seller’s account has been deleted and I do not know what to do. Depop is not answering my mails and its not working to get a refund.
I’ve been having issues with one seller for about a year. Instead of taking action on her account they threatened to ban me. It is impossible to contact their support team.
Depop has some of the worst customer service, it makes people want to stop using the app entirely. They send the same automated email over and over again when trying to dispute something or get some actual help. I haven’t received any help from anyone from depop & now I’ve been scammed and they won’t give me my buyers protection money back. They claim that’s buyers protection is a solid protection, but it’s the opposite and doesn’t guarantee money back even if you’ve been scammed and never received your packages from sellers. They have some serious customer service issues and need to fix it immediately. They protect the sellers 100% but not the people losing their actual money.
Depop have closed my account due to my requests for payments outside of the app! I have never done this and only uploaded my first selling items the day they sent me that email to inform me. I have asked for more information showing me what items I had requested this for and they have told me as I have failed to follow the rules the decision is now unappealable. I have a purchase that I now don’t know if I will receive! This is really a poor service when I have done nothing wrong!
Closed my account that I have had for years with them. Am a loyal regular customer using their platform to sell and all my transactions have been done through the app in line with their terms and conditions. Customer service are no help whatsoever. I have asked them to show me what I have apparently done several times and all they say back is I can confirm you have failed to comply. Absolute joke. What a way to treat long term customers
I am at a loss!!! I have the highest ratings and all of a sudden I was told items that were posted for at least a year were fake!!!! Locked out of my account. I immediately followed up abs provided several links with the authentication from Pro-Authenticators and I get a few Eric email from Cheryl. I email back saying what is missing? It’s obvious the detailed feedback that took hours to compile meant nothing. I purchased two fake LV’s before they took me off and took major losses. Guess what? They still have hundreds of sellers who post its fake and they are not suspended! I’ve emailed and inquired and nothing.
Shocking costumer service. Account was banned for no reason and have talked to three different people and says I can’t make another account or log in on this device anymore. None have tried to resolve the issue for me… Very lazy and sloppy customer service.
Me too!! It’s ridiculous, I’ve filed a complaint and sent another email, let’s see if there will be any useful response lol absolutely useless. I’m even wondering if customer service are robots or actual people.
I have been having so many issues with depop lately.
The first being my funds in depop payments not being released because I haven’t been verified yet which is dumb because I have been following requirements on how to get verified and yet nothing is being done. Then there’s depop removing several of my items saying they’re fakes, I didn’t buy them, or the pictures are not mine when clearly I am in the photos modeling. I sick and tired of this and I am still trying to get in contact with an actual human but have only received the bot responses which are not helpful at all and it’s making me extremely discouraged and angry.
I’ve been using depop for about a year now, mostly enjoying it, but I too have been scammed a lot more than once. (all as a buyer). I made all paying transactions through the Depop app, yet the “buyers protection” is completely useless. I received the same automated email, which claimed:
“If you paid via any other method including Depop Payments, we’ll be back in touch once we’ve contacted the seller on your behalf. To read more about purchases made via Depop Payments, check out our Help Centre article.”
There was no further explanation on how to contact depop with a complaint, immediately get my money back, or further information on what buyers protection was. Every time this has happened I get no further action from Depop and none of my money back. The sellers also remain in business, evidently scamming more people.
I’d like to bring up another issue which no one has spoken about yet:
When I tried to start a selling account, it required me to first attach my PayPal account. Yet when I attempted to sign in, the page erased all of my info and told me to sign in again, which I would do. Every single time. So, I thought, I guess i’ll just go without my PayPal attached—but no! Once I chose to “Cancel and only use Depop Payments” the entire page closed and told me there was an issue. Over multiple weeks, this would continue to occur, and still has not been resolved.
Because of this, I simply cannot sell in Depop.
I really hope they sort out their customer service..and normal workings and glitches of the app, because it’s the worst i’ve ever seen.

This is ridiculous. Four of my items were removed back to back to back after being posted for months without a problem. I didn’t break a single guideline. One of the shirts was removed because its not the same as what I have on the title. Are you kidding me?!? The shirt is brand new with tags and it’s exactly what is listed as on the tittle. Getting a hold of customer service is impossible. If this continues I’m dropping this damn app.
I’m never using depop again! I woke up this morning and my account has refunded someone who has received their item and still has my item. I did not refund this payment!
Unfortunately I have never come across a support team so unhelpful it seems deliberate. I liked the app, the concept/app deserves better staff :( my account was taken away despite me not breaking any guidelines, when I asked for genuine help they continued sending me the guidelines I hadn’t broke, i gave up in the end as it was like communicating with robots.
I totally agree, they suspended my account with no warning, and no reasoning, then haven’t responded to me, this was DIRECTLY after I bought somwthing worth $75 and I cant get a refund and the seller can’t sell it to me anymore, but I can’t get my money back because my account is gone I’m so upset like actually so upset
Depop customer service is such crap and they don’t investigate an issue when you genuinely need help. I had a seller make a mistake on their account information and I ended up being charged 3 times and refunded once. What a mess and still no help. Then they freaking suspended my account. You’re better off using poshmark or mercari.
I will never use Depop again, the app is absolutely terrible. I bought an item 3 weeks ago and have not received it. Made a Complaint and nothing happened. I never got refunded or anything.
This app is absolute CRAP for sellers. You can’t talk to anyone, and the emails you get back are either from a bot or someone who can’t even give you a verification or receipt.
