About Delhi Metro
Delhi Metro is a rapid transit system serving the Indian capital Delhi and nearby cities like Faridabad, Gurgaon, Noida and Ghaziabad. Launched in the year 2002, the metro system is operated by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd and currently has an annual ridership exceeding 1 billion. Operating from its headquarters at Barakhamba Road, New Delhi, the metro currently has a fleet of 270 trains, connecting more than 214 stations.

The lines connecting stations consist of yellow line, blue line, green line, violet line, pink line, magenta line, and red line. Stations include AIIMS, Akshardham, Anand Vihar, Barakhamba Road, Bhikaji Cama Place, Central Secretariat, Chirag Delhi, Delhi Aerocity, Delhi Gate, Dhaula Kuan, Dilshad Garden, Dwarka, Ghitorni, Golf Course, Greater Kailash, Green Park, Hauz Khas, IIT Delhi, INA, IFFCO Chowk, Jangpura, Janpath, Jor Bagh, Kailash Colony, Karol Bagh, Khan Market, Lajpat Nagar, Mayur Vihar, MG Road, Moti Bagh, Mundka, Munirka, Nehru Place, New Delhi, Noida City Centre, Okhla Vihar, Palam, Patel Chowk, Patel Nagar, Pragati Maidan, Preet Vihar, Rajdhani Park, Rajiv Chowk, Rohini East, Rohini West, Saket, Sarojini Nagar, Shadipur, Shalimar Bagh, Shivaji Park, South Extension, Tilak Nagar, Tis Hazari, Udyog Nagar, Vasant Vihar and Yamuna Bank. Travellers can take the Airport Express link to travel to the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

There are both elevated and underground stations. There is a network map on the website showing the lines, origin and destination. Use the Journey Planner to get timings and precise fare. Tickets can be purchased at the counter inside the station or through the token vending machine. If you are a frequent traveller, purchase the Travel Card to recharge the card with any currency value of your choice. The travel card can be recharged at customer care center, or through the DMRC Smart Card Portal. You can top up your card through debit/credit card and net banking.

A security deposit is taken when purchasing a smart card. The same will be returned when surrendering the same. The value in the smart card will not be refunded. Smart cards can be used for multiple journeys, but only by one passenger. Ticketless journeys will carry a fine. Also note that passengers are allowed to carry luggage of up to a maximum weight of 15kg.

Delhi Metro stations have parking lots for two wheeler or four wheeler parking. You can use the facility to park your vehicle and travel conveniently on metro. For disabled passengers,the stations are fitted with extra-wide automatic flap gates to support wheelchairs, has tactile paths for visually impaired, reserved space for wheelchairs in trains, toilets for persons with disabilities and even seats reserved for differently abled and senior citizens.
