About CuriosityStream

Founded in 2015, CuriosityStream is an entertainment company that offers digital content and video programming, including TV shows, documentaries, short-form video content and more. The video-on-demand service was launched by John S. Hendricks, who is also the founder of the Discovery channel. The platform started as a standalone OTT media service, and the service was later expanded to the Amazon Channels. CuriosityStream signed its first distribution deal with MVPD in 2017, and it became available for subscribers on the Comcast set-top box and then on the MSO’s Xfinity. CuriosityStream was made available on Dish Network in 2018, and viewers got access to the platform via Hopper devices and the mobile app ‘Dish Anywhere’. In 2020, CuriosityStream signed another partnership deal with Com Hem, a Swedish telecommunication company, and that made the content available for Swedish users with Swedish subtitles. CuriosityStream is listed on NASDAQ and is the first publicly traded streaming media company that focuses on factual content. The platform produces unique and original documentaries, and some of them have hit the right chord. Famous series and documentaries from CuriosityStream include The History of Home, 4th and Forever, Miniverse, Muck City, Light on Earth, Deep Time History and Stephen Hawking’s Favourite Places.
