About Churchill War Rooms
Churchill War Rooms is a London museum and one of the five branches of the Imperial War Museum. Visitors will find at the museum the Cabinet War Rooms that is said to have been constructed in 1983, shortly before the beginning of war in Europe. It served as the underground headquarters for the British government, bringing the Chiefs of Staff for the Army, Royal Navy, and Royal Air Force together for planning and strategies.

The museum was first opened to the public in 1984. It was earlier known the Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms. It served as Winston Churchill’s underground wartime headquarters. The secret WW2 bunker and museum depicts the life of Churchill’s life, from childhood to being the British prime minister. The interactive gallery on Churchill’s life includes documents, photos and film clips. The War Cabinet Room also includes the Map Room and the Transatlantic Telephone Room.

The Churchill War Rooms welcomes more than half a million visitors each year. It is open 9.30am to 7pm every day. Tickets for children or adults can be purchased at the entrance or online using major credit cards. Audio guides are included in admission price. Students, senior citizens and disabled visitors enjoy concessions on tickets. Note that London Pass offers holders enjoy free entry to the historical museum.
