Aboutย Cape Point Nature Reserve
Cape Point Nature Reserve is a popular picnic spot and tourist attraction that is just an hour’s drive from Cape Town, South Africa. It is home to unseen wildlife and unspoiled beaches. Formerly the reserve was named โ€˜Cape of Stormsโ€™ by Bartholomew Dias in 1488. It was one of the most significant navigational landmarks. There is a lighthouse overlooking the waters. It stands 238 mtrs above sea-level. Part of the Cape Floral Region, a World Heritage Site, the reserve is located within the Table Mountain National Park. The Cape Point is another attraction here.

Visitors to the Cape Point can approach private tour operators for half-day or full-day tour activities. There is the Cape Point Explorer sightseeing bus as well that offers a full dayโ€™s excursion. Tickets can be booked online. Holders of the ‘My Green Card’ can access Cape Point or other attractions in Table Mountain National Park. For lodging, visitors can check in at the Olifantsbos Guest House or Eland and Duiker Cottages

The Cape Point Nature Reserve is open on most days from 6am to 6pm. A ticket must be purchased for entry. Besides enjoying the breathtaking scenery, visitors can ride the Flying Dutchman Funicular up to the viewing point, dine at the Two Oceans Restaurant or shop mementos at the three Cape Point shops. Additionally, you can go on hikes, explore stunning dive sites, go kayaking, mountain biking or simply bird watching. As for the funicular, it can accommodate up to 40 passengers and leaves from the lower station every three minutes. For more information or queries on timings, tickets, tour activities, parking, transportation, or others, reach the Cape Point Nature Reserve customer support.
