About Blue Ribbon Bags
Blue Ribbon Bags was founded with a goal to help fliers track lost luggage. Founded by Gabriel Menkin in 2011, Blue Ribbon Bags protects bags on flights for a price of $5. If a bag is missing and not returned, then the company will pay a minimum of $1000 per bag. The insurance will be paid only if the bag is not returned within 4 days. Blue Ribbon Bags does not ask what the contents of a bag are to release payment. The service can be started through tour operators, online websites, and travel agents.

The website claims it will “track and expedite the return of delayed baggage for 96 hours from the time” of flight’s arrival. Users will receive an email with updates on the status of the mishandled bag. All bags are covered under the service. Also, every airline worldwide is covered in the agreement. Travellers must start the service prior to travel. It cannot be purchased mid-way. Apparently, you dont need any proof of baggage contents to receive Satisfaction Guarantee Payment.

If you dint know, Blue Ribbon Bags even issues payments even if bags are returned after the 96-hour service period. Note that a claim must be filed with airline before same being reported to Blue Ribbon Bags. To file a report with Blue Ribbon Bags, you can click on the ‘File Report’ option on website. If you are yet to purchase the baggage service, you can do same online using major credit cards. You have three options – Gold, Platinum and Diamond. The lowest plan offers coverage of $1000 per bag. You can buy a bigger level of service to get coverage of up to $2000 per bag.

Blue Ribbon Bags service cannot be cancelled after buying. The amount is non-refundable. In case your flight is cancelled or changed, you need to inform same to Blue Ribbon Bags. Fliers need to keep the lost baggage claim and valid reference number when reporting baggage to Blue Ribbon Bags. The same must must be done within 24 hours of flight arrival. Your missing bag report will not stay valid if reverting after the 24 hour deadline. Note that the Blue Ribbon Bags coverage applies only to baggage mishandled by the airline. It does not include theft, missing contents or damaged baggage.

Each Blue Ribbon Bags agreement is for single airline confirmation number. It can be a single or round ticket with stopovers.
