    I went in to our Ackerman’s branch at Corkwood Mall today. This is my 3rd time dealing with the floor supervisor Carol and her team. They go out of their way to help you in locating stock and helping you in everyway they can. Today i brought a pair of shoes in to them that I got as a gift for my grandson and it was too small. They had no problem in exchanging it for another item. They must employ more people like this that make your day. Good customer service is very scarce in shops and I hope they will be rewarded for there excellent service.

  2. I went to Ackermans Church Street in Pretoria on the 3rd of August. I wanted to go to children’s department downstairs, I couldn’t go in I was told there is water there, I didn’t touch anything I just went out when I arrive at door the alarm rang as if I have stolen something. The man standing at the door asked one of the ladies working there to take me to the fitting room to search me, I asked them to check the footage from the time I entered the store and the time I decided to leave. I was asked to take my clothes off at the fitting room, I did that. The lady who was asked to search me saw I didn’t steal anything, the guy who said I should be searched he was full of negative attitude instead of apologizing he said I am crazy why should he check the footage . I really felt so embarrassed and humiliated after that incident. The time when I exit the store after the incidence the alarm didn’t ring. So please fix your faulty alarm system, before you can accuse someone about theft, check the footage, if you saw the person stealing this is where you don’t need to check the footage, train employees about customer service.
    With the experience I had, I am not sure whether I will buy from Ackermans again

  3. I’ve never been so embarrassed. I went to Ackermans @ Thabong Mall in Sebokeng. I went there to buy clothes for my daughter. On my way out the alarm set went on as if I’ve stolen something. Only to find out that the cashier Sindi didn’t take out the black ink tag on one of the items. And even their security didn’t even bother to write down the incident. And they didn’t take any of it serious.

  4. I have a problem that happens two times. I have Ackermans account and last year I found out that in my card I have insurance but I don’t know how because I don’t remember them asking my details for insurance I don’t even remember them telling me about it. What I know is that I open account for ackermans not insurance card. So they canceled that insurance, again I’m in that situation I always pay every month. Maybe it been four months now I didn’t take anything in their shop but when I check my balance it seems like I don’t pay at all. I than tell them to check and they found out that I have insurance again and I am owing them R600. I won’t pay that money to ackermans, I’m now certified with your account I don’t need it. How can I pay for something that I didn’t join.

I visited Ackermans in Mall of the South 2-3 weeks ago that was my first time going there i was going to book my son’s phone for repairs, the service was good and quick, the staff truly go an extra mile for their customers. I was called the following Monday to be informed that they were going to exchange the device. I went to collect the new device in a week’s time and the staff were really friendly and helpful. I would like to specifically thank Phindile, Mpho and Nomfundo for their excellent customer service, keep up the good work.

    • I am very disappointed with the service I got from Ackermans White River, their service is so poor. I can’t lie I am very sad I bought a phone 7 weeks ago and in 8 days that phone dies I send it back to the store they told me they will book it for repair. I should come come back after 4 weeks. I did still my phone wasn’t back from the repairs. They promise to do a follow up and come back to me but still nothing from their side. Please help I need my and I bought it on cash I do not owe them either. It’s been 6 weeks now what should I do.

  7. I visited Ackermans in Villiersdorp for some Christmas shopping. One shop assistant was super friendly. Her name was Essie. So helpful. It was 2nd time at the store and I must commend her on her excellent customer service. Well done.

  8. I went to Ackerman Musina Mall today. The service was so horrible. Had to stand in a very long que with only 2 cashiers. No customer service by the tills at all. No urgency from staff and the manager or supervisor who was called to authorize. The two cashiers were chatting to each other not caring that there were customers in front of them.

    • I’m so disappointed with ackermans!!! I pay them every damn month without fail, and yet they fail to allocate the money. Now each month my installment keep getting higher and higher.   9. I applied for an account online and it’s more than three days now without getting any response not even an sms to inform me whether is successful or not. I was expecting maybe a message to confirm that they have received my application.

  10. Bought clothes for kids on last Saturday little did I know am sold different sizes on 1 pair. Returned next day calm as cucumber only to be angered that I should choose another pair which was not there obviously. Left staff in presence of their manager to sort out the in-house as they costing me my precious resources and get back to me with resolution by tomorrow (Monday) today already Tuesday and so disappointed. No tenacity to at least show any sign of CRM. This is poor service at its best

  11. I am very upset and disappointed with the service from Ackermans, Kenilworth Centre. I had been looking for a particular top in my size and having gone to 4 Ackermans branches with no luck in finding it, I was ecstatic to find one in my size at Kenilworth Centre. It fitted me perfectly and I went to the cashier to pay. Apparently when I wanted it rung up, I was told the tills were’nt working at that moment and could I come back another day. I asked if there is any way I could pay for the garment, as I was very anxious about leaving it there as it was the only one in my size. The cashier assured me she would keep it for me. I told her I was unable to come for it the next day, but would come for it the following day as I really wanted that top. She assured me she would keep it for me for that day. I told her I had battled to get that size and to please keep it for me. When I came to collect it and pay for it, I was told it had been put back on the floor and subsequently sold. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, I was told it was not the cashiers fault and that they are only allowed to keep items for one day. No mention of this was made when the cashier agreed to keep it for me for two days. Also, as I was the one being inconvenienced as it was Ackermans tills that weren’t able to ring up my garment so I could pay for it, this one day policy should not have applied. I was ready to pay for it on the day, but it wasn’t my fault their tills couldn’t ring it up. It would be nice if Ackermans had a back up plan if this happened, even if they had to do manual receipts. I am beyond angry as I hunted high and low to get one that fitted me,I found it at their branch and because of an error on their side which resulted in me having to come back to pay for it another day, this has now resulted in them not keeping their word and the top I was supposed to buy on the Tuesday is now gone and no other branches have it in the size I wanted. Very disappointed at the service and I’m probably never going to have that top now as it was the only one.

  12. On Friday at Ackerman galleria the ques were extremely long . With more that 5 empty cashier points . Yet the lines were pulling up. . Had to endure that since I needed the body shaper I wanted. I was however very disappointed upon wearing it today.They was nothing body shaping about it. It’s not even a tight. I regret buying and since it’s a underwear I cannot return it. In all am very disappointed with quality of your body shapers…. Lesson learnt .

Hello there , my name is Mbali, I was at Ackermans KG Crossing in Witbank, I went there to buy an outfit for myself because i was taking my son to his friend’s party,initially i went there looking for a nice summer dress , unfortunately with my kind of body its almost impossible to find just what you are looking for but 1 of the staff members was very helpful , her name is Jennifer, she literally chose an outif for me and insisted that i go to the fitting room to try it on,i just loved it,my mother prefers me with dresses but she also loved the denim shorts and white t’shirt that this lady chose for me. Its not everyday were you get to the shop and are given this much attention. I am very impressed and will definitely be coming back to the store.

  14. ACKERMANS WAVERLEY PLAZA- worst and most rude customer service ive ever received!! First most of the items are without prices so that they had to phone other stores to get prices while i was told to just stand aside… finally when it came to paying the items there was a issue with the card machine where i was told its my card (and its not) they will never get a good recommendation and they’re very rude and unprofessional to their clients.

    I always receive such appalling service from your branch in Newlands West in Durban. The one cashier is horrifically rude and it’s totally shocking. I don’t take items without paying for it, I am a paying customer and it is my right to receive pleasant customer service. Unfortunately, I always receive below average service form this store!

I would like to highly commend SEIPATI TIRO at Ackermans, 14th Avenue, Hyperama Mall, ROODEPOORT on her integrity, initiative and prompt response to enable me to receive my wallet that I left in that branch of Ackermans on Friday 30 April 2021. Seipati is an honest, kind, understanding and friendly assistant who deserves to be rewarded generously. I will definitely support her at that branch in the future! Seipati Tiro is an asset to your establishment.

  17. Yesterday I went to Ackermans at Kempton square, Kempton park and I must say the service I received from the cashier Zandile Mbokane was utterly disappointing. She was sulking the whole time, she did an untidy job of packing our items, she was literally throwing them in the plastic bag to show us how angry she was at Lord knows what. It was an unpleasant experience.

I’m so disappointed with the service I got from Ackermann Fort Beaufort I was looking for kids gumboots but I couldn’t find it and I ask around from the staff and they say they are out of stock,I kept on looking and I ask again and I got the same answer again and I kept on looking eventually I found the gunboats hanging and there was a lot not only 1pair as I was told its finished when I told the lady by the name of Amanda she said I told you go and look but she told me its finished. All I’m saying is that; they don’t care about their customers there, there’s totally no customer service its bad

    • I am so disappointed with Ackermans service. I sent them an email on Monday with the details of a dress i am looking for in my size. I got a follow up email for shops in areas that is close to me. To date no response. There would be no need for Ackermans to advertise if they improve their service but i will return the dress that i had bought and shop where business is needed.

    I am so disappointed with the service I got form Ackermans Ladysmith at the oval shopping center. I will not be forced to buy a paper bag instead of you guys giving us plastic just like every other shop that we purchased items at, I am so disappointed. If you have changed rules please let us know. The lady told me to carry the items I bought with my hands because I can’t puy R1. 00 for a paper bag. A whole paper bag for R1. 00?

    • I just received a call from an agent who was very rude and disrespectful and this is not the first time I get such.. I may be owing but I am a customer and Ackermans has been debiting from my acc every month, it’s not my fault that they didn’t this time… Could u please make sure that ur agents are trained on how to speak to customers over the phone. They should also learn to greet and say goodbye!

I’m very disappointed with the service I got from Gugulethu mall Cape town, firstly I stood on the line for about 30min when I was in the till I showed a lady my receipt for the item I’m returning she gave me a bad attitude telling me that she is only doing sale and she is not going to help me then I ask her if must I go to another line now and said yes because she is not going to help me with a bad attitude and I only had 1 item that I’m returning she refused then I went to the next cashier next to her she helped me but I didn’t understand was that she can’t help me return this item because I left my card at home in order to do that I must go back home and get my card but I had my ID book with me and the receipt why can’t she help me she said their system only needs a card in order to refund back the amount in my account please can you do something about your system and please do something about your cashiers they don’t have respect for customers.

    Well done to the staff at Balfour Park, JHB. I bought a pair of sandals on Friday morning and returned it for exchange the afternoon. I was received with pleasant service and smiles. This morning I’ve received a courtesy call from the branch to see if I was satisfied with my purchase. Wow, I was blown away! Very rarely do I receive service like this. Keep it up Balfour Park. You set a very good example for other branches.

  22. On the 17th of thus month that is Wednesday I visited Ackermans Store at Boxer Complex Cofimvaba. I bought 2 shorts, 2 t shirts and a pack of 5 briefs for boys. One of the shorts didn’t fit to a boy as it was smaller and thebriefs also. I didnt even asked him to fit them as I realised that they will be smaller. I did open the package so when I returned them this morning I am told that they dont take them back. I’m not happy because I dont what to do with the briefs and the boy doesn’t have any as he has gained weight. Please help

  23. I received the worse experience at Mall of Africa Ackermans.

    So i always usebmy husband’s accoint catdbto pay at the same store, which i hsve been using for about a year.
    This past Sunday i bought things after the sale has been thr cashier says thr signatures don’t match so i explained that its my husband’s card etc. The manager Sipho comes and says that my husband or myselfcan call head office and he waves his hands in my face saying well then what must he do. He then just walked away. I told him please refund the stuff and give me back the card, he refused to do this. I had to leave the mall, fetch my husband and my son to sort this crap out.
    It was the most dismal and horrific experience ever.

    The staff are not trained, the manager is unfit.

    Its overall a terrible store.

    I’m so disappointed in the service I’m getting. I took insurance for my laptop hollard Ackermans. It got broken and I informed you people or must I say hollard. They sent Ram people to come pick up the laptop. 3 weeks no response I keep calling they say the laptop is damaged beyond repair. They said they will send sms with a voucher so I can go buy a new one. I’m working with that laptop and it’s a month now nothing no update. Last I called they told me that they captured wrong numbers the claim was paid and closed. How angry I am right now. I contacted Ombudsman people I’m gonna sue Ackermans hollard. I lost my salary for July because of you people. Even now I have to buy my own airtime keep calling like I’m stupid

  25. I would like to lodge a complaint about a staff member by the name of Anna at The Mall @ Reds Akermans (Women Store). Her attitude needs to change. I was shopping at their old store directly opposite the store that just recently opened for women only, i needed a specific product, greated her as she was the only staff member at that time in sight, called for her attention twice and walked right pass myself and my sister. As another staff member walked pass us while trying to catch Anna’s attention, she told then turned around to her colleague and said “those ladies are calling her” with soo much attitude, flicked her hair and walked walked away, Such was not necessary if im a paying customer, regardless of which akermans store you work for, if i see you in uniform, asking a question to me should NOT have lead to that attitude. A simple response to let us know that you do not work in that specific store was not going to hurt her. I felt disrespected & when i asked other staff members about her name so that i can formally lodge a complaint, Anna continued to walk right pass us & flash her name card at me with attitude & continued to give us the same attitude.

    This attitude story of staff members needs to be addressed by the company. As a paying customer, because of that nonsense, next time i visit the shopping center, i feel its best for me to take my money where i will be treated with respect. Your store will have a bad name if you continue to have people such as that serviceing customers, and being your frontlines & brand ambassadors.

    Its a pitty because when one thinks of complaining, we are afraid that someone who could be a bread winner will lose her/his job… but this needs to be addressed asap for the image of your company!

I visited your store at Boulders mall.There were few things that I liked that were marked down, but as I was looking for my size a lady(shop assistant) was sorting by my side, so I felt bad that I’m causing a mess as a result I had to properly take out whatever I wanted. I picked a lovely dress n went to the fitting room, unfortunately it was small so I had to look for a bigger size I got it then went straight to the fitting room. As I was about to enter she shouted “hello,may I please see what’s in your bag?” I gave her my bag n she searched it,then I went through to the fitting room the dress was very nice I liked it. I went straight to the que as I was queuing I saw that lady passed by the tills and went back to where she was working.Minutes after the mall security came and asked people who were working by the till if they mistakenly pressed the panic button because someone did and I saw the lady who searched my bag coming from there.I paid the dress, went out of the store and told myself “I will never set my foot here again”.I know you might have taught your staff to be vigilant but there’s nothing so sad as being treated like a criminal.

    I had a very unpleasant experience I’ve made a layby round March 2020 the stores were closed during April because of lockdown I’ve received an SMS apologizing for the inconvenience but an extension would be given for the layby May (month 2) I went and pay and on the slip It showed 2 dates last due date would 9 July 2020 ,and as far as store manager has explained they even give 14 days Grace after expiring date , to my suprise the layby was cancelled and removed from the system without any notification I went to take it out 26 June and this what they told me after saying all of the above I want my money or that clothes Iayby apparently they give you a gift what must I do with the gift I dont have the desire to buy anything there they made it look like as if it is my fault but i have proof of all the till slips and I’ve never seen such arrogance and inappropriate behavior for over the past 20 years I’ve been shopping there from what I can make out someone was maybe after what was in the layby because nothing makes sense at all I’m deeply grieved by this raw deal what do I tell my children now they chose those clothes. I’m really shocked and disappointed by this whole scenario and I want my money back because I paid money not for a gift card their is no such things as I cannot get my own money back I will take it further if i have to things like this that annoys me as customer service sorry mam this how it is accept it bullshit

  28. I would like to file a complaint against Simphiwe Mtshali at Ackermans at Meadowdale Mall. This store Associate has a Nasty Attitude towards customers, he fails to even take 2 minutes of his time to assist customers. I was at the shop today and I have to say the attitude I was given made me to walk out of the store n I told myself never to return, when I asked for assistance he simply said, how can he help when everything is right in front of my eyes. I am so disappointed and failing to understand how one individual who is suppose to be helpful just treats me in such a manner.

    I expect better in the store for other customers.

I was in your Wynberg Cape Town store about 2 weeks ago and had a horrific experience in the store caused by one of the male staff members on the floor who came over to the till when I was in the queue waiting to pay. I recall that it was near to closing time and load shedding. At the time, I was ill, had diarrhea and have not yet contacted Ackermans head office to report the unpleasant incident, created by the male salesperson/cashier – I have been recovering, but the unpleasant memory haunts me and I feel that I need to discuss what happened to me, with a customer care/complaints agent. I am still not well, too tired to elaborate further, but can mention that I am a senior white female, a pensioner, there was a scene in the queue, I told the people in the queue behind me that I would call the police. When I initially entered the store, the male salesman approached me on the floor, asked if he can help. I told him that I was looking for bath sponges; he said that they don’t have, but when I got to the till, a pile of sponges were in a basket opposite the cashier. I asked her to scan the prices as some were less 50% & others identical were full-price; I asked for the manager as that seemed to be a mission. Then the male assistant who had told me that Ackermans did not stock sponges, told me that those round sponges are kitchen sponges and that I had pushed in. If I had, it was unintentional and not to my knowledge; there was a great hold-up/delay & the customers behind me, were complaining and intimidating me and saying condescending things. Eventually, all was sorted out and I left. My cash purchase totalled +- R300. I did not keep the till slip/cash invoice, but .. after being victimised and being treated the way I had been and the DELIBERATE go slow at the tills (I had to prepare for my Shabbat, incident happened on a Friday afternoon), I am sad as Ackermans are an old, reputable company, I love their stock and quality, but the hate is all over. Very bad for business.
