About Gran Paradiso National Park
Gran Paradiso National Park is an Italian national park that opened in the year 1922. Locally known as Parco nazionale del Gran Paradiso, the park is located in the Graian Alps in the regions of Piedmont. Spread across 62,000 hectares, the park is surrounded by numerous glaciers, high mountains and alpine meadows. Visitors to the park can spot rare animal species that include ibex, chamois, ermine (stoat), weasels, hare, and golden eagles. Previously a hunting park, the area was donated by King Vittorio Emanuele II. It is today the oldest national park in Italy.
Visitors to the park can enjoy high altitude excursions, skiing and mountaineering. If water is your kind of thing, you can explore the valleys that include Valle Orco, Valle Soana, Valle di Cogne, Valsavarenche, and Valle di Rhemes. There are park guides who help you explore the large protected area. For accommodation, you have a number of huts, bed & breakfast and camping spots at the Gran Paradiso Area. You can visit the website to locate some of the hotels, know the ongoing events, book tours and much more. For more information or queries on timings, hotels, events, tours, parking, or others, reach the Gran Paradiso National Park customer support.
