About Trenord
Trenord is an Italian railway company founded in 2009. The public transport operator manages regional passenger trains in Lombardy. Established by Trenitalia and Ferrovie Nord Milano (FNM), Trenord is headquartered at Milan, Italy and employs more than 4,000 across the country. The regional and suburban railway consists of R Lines (regional line), S Lines (suburban line) and Milano Urban Railway (Passante).

The regional lines has trains that run every one to two hour, from 6am to 12pm. The S Lines links Milan with the city centre through the Passante underground. Journeys are scheduled every 30 minutes, from 6am to 12am. The stops include Novara, Varese, Saronno, Como, Mariano Comense, Camnago-Lentate, Lecco, Seregno, Treviglio, Lodi and Albairate. Milano Urban Railway on the other hand runs across Milan through a subway system that runs underground.

The suburban lines S1 (Saronno – Lodi), S2 (Camnago – Milano Rogoredo), S5 (Treviglio – Varese), S6 (Novara – Pioltello/Treviglio), S13 (Milano Bovisa – Pavia) and S14 (Milano Rogoredo – Rho) has a frequency of up to one train every 6 minutes. Not to forget the Malpensa Express that links Milan with the intercontinental hub at Malpensa Airport (Terminal 1 and Terminal 2). The website states there are close to 145 trains running each day, between 4.30am and 12.30am. Stops from and to Milano Centrale include Milano Porta Gairbaldi, Milano Bovisa, Saronno, Rescaldina, Castellanza, Busto Arsizio, Ferno-Lonate Pozzolo and Malpensa Aeroporto. The cross-border services include the Como-Varese-Malpensa connection, Lombardia-Canton Ticino Cross-Border line and Lomboardia-Swiss connection.
