TenPay is a third-party online payment platform in China that allows users to send and receive money online. Launched in 2005, the platform is a secure and convenient way to shop online using local cards or net banking. TenPay was developed by China’s Tencent to incorporate a payment solution to its popular messaging platform QQ. In 2013 it offered support for WeChat.
TenPay is accepted by more than 200,000 websites. It is supported by over 80 financial institutions. Chinese customers pay in local currency which will then be converted into merchant’s local currency. Currently, TenPay is used by more than 200 million individuals and 400,000 business customers.
