sofia metro customer serviceMetropolitan is the rapid transit system in Bulgaria owned and operated by Sofia Municipality. Opened in the year 1998, Metropolitan has 2 rail lines connecting to over 35 stations. The metro serves close to 350,000 passengers each day and operates from 5am to midnight. For those commuting to and from Sofia Airport, the metro has a station (M2) next to Terminal 2 of the airport. There is a shuttle offering free connections from Terminal 1 and 2 as well.

Line 1 connects Northwestern and Southeastern parts of Sofia. Line 2 connects from Northwest to South of the capital city of Sofia. Line 3 will be from Southwest to Northeast of Sofia. Commuters can purchase Single tickets and cards with multiple trips for travel. There are one day cards that can be used on metro, trams, trolley-buses and buses of Sofia public transport. There are also three day cards, monthly and annual cards. There are discounted fares for students and senior travellers. Tickets can be purchased through kiosks or at manned stations.
