About The Scientific Center
The Scientific Center in Kuwait is an environmental education hub established in the year 2000. Founded by KFAS, The Scientific Center has an IMAX movie theatre, a large aquarium, Discovery Place and a gift shop. The building’s exteriors is a blend of Islamic art and architecture.
Located in Salmiya, the center boasts of one of the largest aquariums in the Middle East with more than 100 species of animals. Besides marine life, you also can see animals that live in desert regions (like hedgehog and caracal). Marine species include deep sea sharks, fishes, turtles, sharks, rays and corals. Those who want a theatre-like experience must visit the IMAX where you can see 3D educational and documentary films in Arabic and English.
Dont miss the Dhow Harbour that gives you a glimpse of the rich heritage with sights of small dhows used in the past. Spread across 80,000 sq mts, The Scientific Center is open from 9am to 10pm from Saturday to Thursday. On Friday, it is open from 2pm to 10pm. Tickets vary for IMAX, Discovery Place or aquarium. Visitors aso have restaurants and cafes for dining and relaxation.
