About Perth Zoo
Perth Zoo is a popular tourist attraction in Perth, Western Australia. The zoo was opened in the year 1898 and attracts more than 600,000 people each year. Spread across 41 acres, Perth Zoo is home to more than 1,530 animals comprising of 163 different species. The zoo is open from 9am to 5pm.
Some of the animals and birds that can be seen at the Perth Zoo include African Lion, Asian Elephant, Giraffe, Numbat, Plains Zebra, Southern White Rhinoceros, Sumatran Orangutan, Sumatran Tiger, African Painted Dog, Asian Small-clawed Otter, Australian Pelican, Australian Tarantula, Baudin’s Cockatoo, Bilby, Binturong, Capuchin, Python, Black-necked Stork, Black-winged Stilt, Bobook Owl, Bridled Tern, Brolga, Cane Toad, Carnaby’s Cockatoo, Chuditch, Koala, Komodo Dragon, Javan Gibbon, among others.
Tickets can be purchased at the entry or online through major credit cards. Cost for adult and children tickets vary. By becoming a Zoo Member, visitors can enjoy unlimited free entry and discounts on merchandise. Members also enjoy access to Taronga Zoo, Western Plains Zoo, Melbourne Zoo and Werribee Open Range Zoo.
