About Museum of Islamic Art
Museum of Islamic Art is a popular tourist attraction in Doha, Qatar. The museum, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect IM Pei, was opened in the year 2008. The museum is located on the Corniche which runs around the bay and it is also just about 15 minutes drive from Hamad International Airport.

If you are a lover of art, this is the place you should not give a miss. You have Islamic art from 7th century to up to 19th century that spans Spain, Egypt, Iran, Turkey, India and Central Asia. The art includes ceramics, jewellery, woodwork, metalwork, glass and textiles. Spread across 376,740-sq ft, there is a park of about 64-acres consisting of dunes and oases behind the museum. You have activities held regularly at the park, including film screenings, art workshops and sports events.

The Museum of Islamic Art is an architectural gem and offers incredible views of the city. The design is based on ancient Islamic architecture, visitors will be enthralled by the high domed atrium within a central tower. The five storey museum also houses the a gift shop, theater, library and a top-class restaurant offering Mediterranean and Arabic cuisines. Different collections you can find at the museum include Ceramics, Glass, Manuscripts, Metalwork and Textiles.

Admission to the museum is free. As for operating times, the museum is open Sunday to Wednesday from 10.30am to 5.30pm, Thursday to Saturday from 12pm to 8pm. Note that it will be closed on Tuesdays. If you plan to visit the park, it is open 24 hours. Visitors to the museum can enjoy free wifi and also guided tours (Thursday and Saturday at 2pm). If you plan on taking photos, note that tripods or flash are not allowed in the galleries.
